Would you re-set a Tiffany diamond (2.01 rectangular Lucida, H SI1)

Hi all,

Would you remove a Tiffany diamond from its setting to reset?

I bought a rectangular Lucida pre-owned to have a wearable, durable ring and it has suited that purpose. However, I wish the diamond were set far lower and the setting is a little bulky for my taste. Also I prefer a wider ratio for elongated cuts so I started thinking I'd appreciate this diamond more if it were flanked by narrow, parallel sidestones...

I'm considering resale to buy something else, or even starting fresh with a lab-grown (not sure I'm ready for that yet) but then I thought, I have this 2ct stone in hand and maybe I can make a project of it.

I do like the Lucida's relatively high crown

Alternatively, I am wondering if it's better to leave it intact and move on to something else. Especially now that heavier settings seem to be regaining popularity

I wouldn't personally dismantle a Lucida ring to have it reset by anyone but Tiffany and I don't even know if they do that, but I hear you on not loving it. How would you feel about hanging onto this as-is, getting a lab ring to scratch the itch, and then reevaluating?

I haven't purchased from Blue Chip personally but they specialize in secondhand Tiffany, so it might be worth reaching out to them to try to get a sense of how much you could get selling it: https://www.bluechipjewelry.com/catalog/

It’s gorgeous and the value is far greater as is then disassembled. Perhaps put it away for awhile and you may love again???

If you don't love it, why not just sell it? The complete ring is worth more than its separate parts because of the brand. If you don't care to have another branded piece, you can custom design whatever you want. Personally, I wouldn't take it apart. If a lab stone will make you happy, that's an option, as well. But I don't see how sticking the Tiffany in a drawer and not wearing it makes sense.

The others gave you a great suggestion.
I am also sure you can get a lot more sparkle for a lot less even in a natural if you find a private sale or a trade buyer for your Tiff ring.
