OMG!!!OMG!!! I have never in my Canadian life seen a diamond up close and personal as stunning as this! I was speechless and my dh was jumping up and down! Ellen- you were so right when you said it will knock our socks off! FYI, just before ordering it we found out that it scored a ... are you ready?... 9.8 on the ISee2!!! Can''t get higher!
The package came with the h&A scope and the 10x magnifier so I have so much to play with today! The stone is also mounted in a ring-type claw so we can even try it on!
I must say that the side view is spectacular! From the top it is so clear and so different than my previous diamond, which I always felt had a film-like effect over it. This one is like crystal! But Diamond! Just gorgeous!!!
Thank you PSers who encouraged us not to be doubtful after reviewing the details. You were so right! And I cannot stress how much we enjoyed working with Jonathan at GOG! It was a pretty quick process and painless! We loved that he has a passion to educate his consumers before they purchase. That way when we see it in person it has so much more beauty and meaning . All the staff at his office are so efficient and friendly. Truly it was a pleasure to spend this money when the experience was so positive all the way around!!!
I must start my viewing today and get to know my new beauty from every single aspect and facet! I am one of you!! :)
So - in order to see the hearts I have to take the diamond out of the mounting and view from below? I don''t want to touch it yet... is that the right way?
Can''t thank you all enough! Your are so knowledgebale and generous to share . Much appreciated!

HEEHEE!!! I am so delighted for you!!!!!!!! Many congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can just imagine the look on your face right now! They are really stunning aren't they??

Yes, you'll have to take it out and turn it over to see the hearts. You can touch it, it won't break, just smudge.

You can wipe it down with rubbing alcohol for a quick clean.

I knew buying from GOG would be painless, they really are a great company. Now, I believe you owe us some nekkie diamond pictures, no?

Congrats!!

Thanks L and El !
How did you know I am almost afraid to touch it! For sure I don''t want to smudge it. Interesting that you suggested rubbing alcohol to clean it . Is that what you used before your stone was set rather than ammonia? After it is set would the alcohol damage the metal?

Because you moreless said so!

My stone was set before it was shipped to me. But many use alcohol to clean their rings, it''s safe for all metals. I use it for quick touch ups during the day if I think it needs it, but not for regular cleaning. Without looking back through the thread, is your setting going to be WG or Plat? Ammonia and water is fine for Plat, but a no no for WG. I use Dawn and hot water, or Mr. Clean and water, as I have WG.

A quick spritz of Windex does the trick too. If you set it in Platinum, then you can continue to use Windex for a quick cleaning with no worry about damaging the metal or stone.

Glad you love the GOG stone.

Good info; thanks again.
Not sure about the setting at all right now. Just know that it has to be very delicate and open for the stone to hold center stage! Since I am loving the side views so much, I do not want to cover them up with metal. Any suggestions aside from the usuals?
Thinking I would love a micro pave band, maybe double thin ones. Gee I would love a Leon Mege setting but how would I do that from here? It was complicated enough clearing customs yesterday for a loose stone.
FYI, this is not ( as you may have guessed) an engagement ring. It will help us celebrate our 30th anniversary! No way we would have dreamt of anything like this way back then!
( can''t stop doin'' the sparkly dance!!!)

If you like the idea of Leon Mege, maybe you could contact him and find out the practicalities of having him set your beauty! Here is his website - www.artofplatinum.com
