I''m having a diamond problem!!!
A friend of mine has a marquise diamond (currently sent is a very very ugly ring), 1.03ct, I colour (although looks whiter), SI2 (inclusions with loupe but pretty much eye clean). Minimal bow tie but there is one. He wants $1300.
Now for the negatives. It''s not well cut. It has a bulge to one side so isn''t perfectly symmetrical. You can see it clearly with a loupe and when you study the diamond up close but from arm''s length you don''t see it.
So my questions are:
1. Bearing in mind the price and that it faces up white, would you buy it?
2. If yes, how would you set it to hide the lack of symmetry?
I''m unlikely to be able to afford a marquise any time soon as I''ve just splashed out on another diamond so ...... over to you!
