Hi,

Do any of you see a problem with a stone that has AGS 0 for light performance and symmetry, but AGS 2 for polish?
It scores 1.4 on the HCA.
Additionally, it has an overall cut grade of AGS2 which I assume is due to the polish?
It is an E VS1.
Could this still perform as well to the eye as a AGS 0 despite the lesser polish grade?

Thanks

Think you should still be good. I bought an ER that has similar characteristics and it worked out just find. I understand that polish doesn't affect performance until it gets good and below.

Can you link the AGS report for us?

I'm curious to see how others respond, but I wonder why it didn't receive an AGS1. I knew that AGS devalued for a stone not having ideal polish or symmetry, but I didn't realize that it lost 2 entire cut grades for having very good polish....

I believe it would be a well performing and beautiful diamond. Call it in for your eyes to see.

Cut grade is all that really matters for appearance (within reason of course).

The reason it has a 2 cut grade is because the polish is a 2. It is something you probably would not notice.

Jan?

Thanks for the responses. One thing of note on the ideal scope image of this diamond is that it is pink/red under the table whereas ideal cut diamond from the same vendor all appear to have a dark red or grey red under the table. Does the lighter color or lack of a darker ring under the table indicate light leakage?

But it appears that with this stone the only reason that its not an AGS ideal candidate is because of the polish, which visual the OP wouldn't be able to discern anyway. So, dismissing it because it's an AGS2, would be premature right?

can you post the IS images?

This is the ideal scope image. There appears to be something at the 1:30 inside the table. Does it look okay otherwise?
