after hearing all these bad news about their cars?

I'm a Toyota owner ('09 Camry) and I love my car. I've had no issues or complaints about it. I'm saddened by the news that the company may be trying to cover up a larger issue and I'm concerned about driving it. I called my dealer and they said that the pedal sticks as it gets old and worn and there are warning signs with it (random revving, slow deceleration, the pedal feeling weird) and not to worry unless I'm noticing those symptoms or I receive a notice from Toyota telling me to bring it in.. As of now I've not received any notification telling my my car was included in the recall nor have I noticed any other issues, but I'm still concerned. As to whether I'd buy one again? I won't answer that until the problem is resolved and I can observe how the company handles the crisis from start to finish.

nope

No, I prefer Honda.
Toyota's safety issue has nothing to do with it: I felt this way last year too.

But honestly I believe in a year or two Toyota will be better than ever.
It has been shaken to the core.

People still buy Tylenol.

I wouldn''t have before... so no... not now either.

I''m a ford girl at heart, even though I own a jeep.

Toyoto is the benchmark company for manufacturing. I''m sure they have a laser focused quality department. It''s unfortunate to have to go through a rework, but I still believe they will continue to make a quality product.

My BF has a 99 Corolla that he loves. I currently drive a Ford, but my next car will likely be either a Honda or a Toyota. Because neither of us will be in the market for a while, we''ve got a chance to see how Toyota handles this situation. I think they''ll come out of it stronger, and so I''m sure we''ll be considering a Toyota when the time comes.

In a heartbeat!

I wouldn''t feel comfortable right now. Yes, they will take care of the problem and stand behind it, but why would I want the hassle if I could avoid it?

No, but then I wouldn''t have before either. My only criteria for a car is that it has hydraulic suspension. Having discovered how amazing it is I will never buy a car that doesn''t have it.

I would not rule it out, but I have yet to see how this is all handled.

I''m quite happy with my honda, and its unlikely I''d switch to anything else. However, I would consider Toyota if I were to leave Honda.

Not right now. I''m a Honda girl anyway.

Yes. We bought our 2010 Prius in late December ''09. LOVE IT. It averages 50 mpg on my daily commute. We took it over 1200 miles to Tahoe and can fit our two large dogs in it. Got a decent deal but if we would have waited until now, we''d probably get an even better deal. Consumer Reports still chose the 2010 Prius as its top pick for green car and listed it among the most reliable family car in its April 2010 issue of top cars.

couple months ago we got a notice from Lexus about a carpet problem with my wife''s car,but now i''m starting to think it is an electronic problem.

Definitely would. Have an 06 Rav4 and would by another one in a heartbeat. All manufacturers have had problems. Honda has had a very recent problem too, but the Toyota bashing overshadowed it. Obviously it is in the interest of the american car manufacturers to villify foreign makers as much and as loudly as possible right now.

I would also like to note that Chevy just recalled a number of cars as well, so it''s not limited to foreign automakers at all.

I had a Camry for 10 years and it was awesome. I got regular oil changes and changed the alternator ONCE since I bought it. I would have kept it but found a great deal on a car with less mileage otherwise I''d still have it now.

Ultimately this debacle hasn''t turned me off to ever buying a Toyota again. It seems the company is taking major steps to fix this and restore people''s faith.

I would, but I''d have some reservations. I pretty much only drive honda and toyota, so I think if we get a new car later this year we''ll get a honda.

The 24 year vetran CHP officer and his family were killed here in my town due to this and the fact the officer couldn''t shut the car down. It was a very sad, heartbreaking day. I believe DF, that its a combination of both.

i just call Lexus and they say it is only a carpet problem with our model, and that we should get a notice soon on how they''ll take care of it.

I''m a Honda girl so Toyota would never have been my first choice, but I would still feel safe driving a Toyota. I think they''ll come back stronger than ever and their reputation for reliability will return.

I personally feel that the only thing that made his Toyota situation so remarkable is that they do have such a great reputation for reliability. This is the sort of problem that really wouldn''t have shocked anyone had it been a domestic car because recalls of this sort are not unheard of in the domestic brands.

absolutely. i would have zero problem buying a toyota right now.

Nope. Toyota''s have never interested me, and they''re even further off my radar since this recall mania.

FI and I are both (very happy) Nissan owners. I believe we will stick with Nissan, or Honda, for the rest of our lives (unless we move up to luxury cars).

My husband and I both have Toyotas (I have a ''05 Corolla and he has either an ''05 or an ''06 Prius). We love our cars, and neither one of us has had issues with them. We''d definitely buy Toyotas again because we believe that the company will be okay after they figure out and solve the latest problems. Granted, it''s a huge problem, and things aren''t looking great for the company right now. I do think they''ll come out on top though, but they have a lot of work to do in order to earn customers'' trust again.

My second choice, if I was getting a new car from another company, would probably be Honda (or possibly Subaru).

I'm a Volvo girl, hope that never changes.

But I thought all the hoo ha was about the Lexus arm rather than Toyota proper?

Ditto. I''m actually looking into getting a Rav4 or some other type of Toyota SUV as we speak.
I''m also looking at Hyundai Sante Fe''s.

If I end up going with the Hyundai I''ll probably still wish it was a Toyota or Honda!

Sorry to go off topic and add my thruppence. But DH had this car and couldn't offload it quick enough. Very uncomfortable to drive on long journeys, awkward to change gears and drank petrol like it was going out of fashion. The Rav4 was supposed to be good though. Can't tempt you with a volvo v50, s60 or the cute and nippy c30?

Really Steal? That is good to know.

My DH actually gave me a list of "approved" vehicles (he''s in the automotive industry

). The Rav4 is my second choice but I don''t like how low the seats are. I don''t remember if there were any Volvos on his list (he was just rattling off vehicles) but I''ll have to ask him about them.
I wish I could actually go somewhere and test drive without being harassed by car salesmen!

Ditto! Love my Honda and though I have thought about buying a Toyota in the past, I won''t now.

If you like a Rav4 or Santa Fe, you would want the CX60 in the volvo line
