If a diamond had an indented natural on the girdle, would you buy it? Why or why not??

TIA!!

It would depend entirely on the indented natural, how big it was and how far it indented.

While it is a scary looking comment it can be so minuscule as to be a non issue, or large enough to conceivably jeopardize the durability of the diamond.

Depends on the location and shape of the stone. And also the setting you are going to mount it in. If for example, the shape is a round, the natural is only a small spot and I set it in a bezel to protect it or away from a prong so that the setting process will not damage it further? A trusted jeweler with the stone will be able to give good advise.

I agree with Wink. There are all sorts of indented naturals. Some quite sever- enough that they are easily confused with a chip- and others minuscule enough that they are near impossible to find with a loupe.

Another qualifying factor- what type of diamond?
if it''s a .50 G/SI1 round, and you can find 1000 others easily, why stress it.
if it''s a Natural Blue Radiant which is really one of a kind, it''s more easy to accept a natural that might out you off a ore common stone

I''m looking at a 1.52 round. Here is the picture of the natural.

Hard to tell from the angle of the photo, but the natural does not appear to be of any major concern.
Some diamonds that cross my desk from diamond vendors, have indented naturals...most have no further issues.
When the indentation feels more like a crevice, that might be troubling.
Oftentimes the plots make them appear larger or worse than they actually are in real life.

Looks pretty benign to me, with plenty of girdle thickness left for structural integrity.

Not a problem, in other words.
