If you saw on a random pre owned forum something you sold. At about $100 more than you sold it for? And the seller not disclosing the supposed defect that got the purchaser a $50.00 discount off the sold price? ( I suppose they could have gotten it fixed) Or is that the way the cookie crumbles? And I'm a big whiny baby ;)

Re: Would you be miffed?

i think it is the way the cookie crumbles... once it left your hands, there's nothing more you can do about it. Buyer beware, I guess, so hopefully future purchaser will ask the right questions so the seller reveals the specifics....

But personally, would I be pissed?? yes! I am all about honesty and equality. Fairness is a super huge thing with me and this would strike me as unfair....

Just take a big breath and breathe in and out slowly ...

Re: Would you be miffed?

Enerchi I wish you lived in Fl we could be friends!! You are right!

Re: Would you be miffed?

Awe!!! I'll be your friend when I COME to Florida, would that do for now?? ;)) :D And when you come up to Ontario, you have to hang with me, OK???

Re: Would you be miffed?

When are you coming to FL? Don't get my hopes up!!
My niece is getting reading to go to McGill University but that's not Ontario is it?

Re: Would you be miffed?

Nope, its in Montreal, Quebec. I'm about 2+ - 3 hours away from there. If you come to visit her, let me know and we can meet in the middle!! Or - I can convince DH we need a weekend away in his hometown! He was born and raised in a suburb of Montreal but left in the early 80's when there was political upheaval.

When we go to Florida, its to Sarasota or Orlando (you know, that little house of the mouse? have you heard of it?? ) Are you near any of those cities?

Re: Would you be miffed?

We are in southwest Fl, Cape Coral. Just 1 hr from Sarasota and 3 .5 from the Mouse! Actually going to Sarasota next weekend. Hubby is a swim coach and has a meet there. Heading to Disney October13 Food and Wine and my birthday at Epcot.

Re: Would you be miffed?

Nope.
Once it's sold, it's sold.
Not my concern if the buyer sells it for a zillion bucks claiming it belonged to Queen Elizabeth.

Re: Would you be miffed?

Doncha know we got a house full of flippers here in PS? :rodent:

I'd raise an eyebrow, but then I'd dust the cookie crumbs off my pants and get on with it. ::)

Re: Would you be miffed?

Kenny and TGal I know, I know. But it just seemed weird to see it. I'm over it! The cookies were good!

Good! And next time, get full asking price if you think the item's worth it. ;))

Re: Would you be miffed?

All's fair in love, war and business.

Re: Would you be miffed?

Not much you can do, but I'd be disgusted too. Then I'd go eat another cookie.

Re: Would you be miffed?

I'm curious about which piece this is.

Re: Would you be miffed?

I'm in Florida!!!

I'd kick myself... for being nice :halo: ... and giving the discount.. maybe they got it fixed and they are trying to make up the fee

Re: Would you be miffed?

How long ago did you sell the piece? How close was your selling price to the component prices?

I'd probably be miffed, but... I have some stuff that I bought at near scrap prices, and I'd probably try for a higher price if I were to sell them... my reasoning being that my first goal is to sell pieces to be used as jewelry, not to be sold to be scrapped, if that makes sense.

Re: Would you be miffed?

i'd be pissed off at myself for not being a better business wheeler/dealer. seriously.

Re: Would you be miffed?

Idk, I don't think it would bother me...the seller asked a certain price, and someone was willing to pay it. And the discount thing wouldn't bother me, because I would know that I had done the right thing. I do think it's cheesy of this person to sell the piece without disclosing the defect.

Re: Would you be miffed?

I wouldn't be miffed if someone got more money than I did in a sale. I suppose we're talking about the BGD DBTY? What was the defect?

Re: Would you be miffed?

I sold a piece for $240 maybe a year ago. I recently saw it on ebay for $1999. I was a little cranky, but what can you do? I've watched a lot of people flip on certain sites. All I can do is not buy from them. I get wacky like that and think (in my own little world) that it makes a difference. lol.

Re: Would you be miffed?

Not the OP, but I think what is bothering her is that she does not believe a defect ever existed. It was just a way for the buyer to get a less than honest break on the price.

That would most certainly bug me! As for what you do about that... you come here and vent, for one!

Re: Would you be miffed?

Ok I've been outed yes it's the DBTY and I sold it at asking but then buyer found a defect, (clasp issue that I never saw), I refunded money. But i could have sold it to another buyer for just 10 under asking and I'm pretty sure the defect would not have been an issue.
I understand making a profit, cause that's the name of the game, but I kinda felt taken.

I actually really admire those whose business/ jewelry sense allows them to buy and successfully flip.

I have two rings I got on eBay that I like but really only want my two stone to become a three stone so..... I want to sell on Pre owned and I know I would feel weird asking more than I paid especially since you all are eBay stalkers and probably know what they cost ;)
Actually all I want to do is get them to a new home!

It wouldn't have happened if you would have sold it to me! :Up_to_something:

I really am just joking, it's happened to me as well. It's a bit if a sting but what are you going to do? The one that I sold was a band for $100 which someone had re-sold through JBeg for $400, and I gave it to her at that price because I knew her fairly well on several forums and it was supposed to be used as a wedding band for a family member, talk about burn.

Re: Would you be miffed?

I would most certainly be ticked off! :angryfire: trying to get what you paid for it is one thing, flipping it for a profit after you got a discount for a "defect" seems pretty crappy, if you ask me....

Sorry elisateach!

Re: Would you be miffed?

I would have been irritated - but once it's sold, it's sold and I probably wouldn't have dwelled on it.

Re: Would you be miffed?

Hi,

No I wouldn't be miffed. You sold it for what you thought you could get. Someone else thinks they can get more. Did they?
I don't really think you can believe what people say, even if they are a PS er. Its seems the main reason that is acceptable on PS is that they have another project they want to do. They all love their jewelry but another project has come along. I take it all with a grain of salt.

Doesn't Jbeg have a minimum consignment fee of $350? If your buyer sold it for $400, they would have only gotten $50 back. ;))
