I'd like politics removed as well.
But then eyeballs (IOW money) would leave PS.
I hate the like button (here and everywhere) and I argued to not introduce it here on PS.
I have never clicked a like button here, and I am on no other social media thingie that has a like button.
I see it as narcissistic and shallow Junior High School popularity-contest garbage.
I voted yes, and wish they'd remove it entirely from all of PS, not just Hangout.
PS to Kenny. I know you don't like it, and so I try not to "Like" your posts or
"@" you. I try to respect everyone.
Absolutely!Would they? Do you think there's that much traffic because of it?

Absolutely!
Some of the longest threads are chock full of political bickering.
If people could just remain polite and respectful no matter if they agree or not I think politics is a good addition to the forum.
I guess. But I don't know how the $ part of these things work. Does it matter if it's the same people over and over? Clicks are clicks regardless of the IP address?

I like it for normal times when I want to acknowledge what someone has said, but I can't respond in a timely manner. I like to let people know I've read what they've had to say.
Well that would be nice but emotions and opinions and all.
Well if one is respectful emotions don't have to run high. And if someone cannot control their emotions then they can decide not to post.

Agreed.
Agreed - The political posts tend to ride high on emotions.

Understandable, since politics is so important.
HI:
Tricky business. "Likes" confer status and can have the opposite intended effect--divisiveness.
Like @Kenney I don't belong to any social media and IRL popularity isn't my MO. But like @lyra I understand her POV about acknowledgement. Jeez I've used "like" a lot here. LOL
cheers--Sharon
