Would love to get the experts here to cast an eye over some pics I just took.

This is the report

http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?reportno=2186029877&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&pagename=GIA%2FDispatcher&c=Page&cid=1355954554547

Here are a couple of pics

I have tried to take a few pics by a window it is cloudy today but it sparkles like crazy in any shaft of sun

Happy to take additional photos if it helps with an opinion.

I am mainly wanting to reassure myself that is was a good choice for the money as it was replacing my beloved engagement ring.

Thank you

Re: Would love your thoughts on my pear pics and report incl

Anyone ? juat wondering if it looks like a nice stone for the money as I know fancy cuts are not as easy to certify

Re: Would love your thoughts on my pear pics and report incl

Personally I don't love the bowtie, but as long as it doesnt bother you that is what matters.

It looks lovely! Diamonds are hard to photograph and I think fancy cuts are even more so. The GIA papers look good but
the numbers dont tell us much about fancy cuts.

Are you loving it?

Did you have an independent appraiser check it out? If there is no recourse (return/refund), then it is too late to ask for cut opinions.

Thanks for the thoughts.

I did look at the stone before I chose it. I really can't see a bowtie at all in sunlight or artifical light but that is probably because I am not experienced. I agree there seems to be a darkness in the middle in these pictures but it doesn't appear to be evident when looking at it in reality. Again probably my lack of knowledge.

He is more than happy for me to change if I am not happy with the stone.

I guess I just felt I should get opinions on here as I am inexperienced but I guess if I like it that is the main thing :)

That's why it is so hard to take pictures of fancy cuts. I hardly ever see a bow-tie in my pear (see avatar) but when I take
pictures, it tends to show up...takes lots of practice to get a picture like what you tend to see the majority of the time.

You are the only one who can analyze it in person. If you like what you see, then enjoy! Make sure you keep it clean. You
can also take it to good jewelry stores and do some comparisons...although it's hard to find pears to compare with and
comparing it with a round is not really fair.

Congratulations on your new ring/engagement!!!

Thanks for your reply :)

It was an insurance replacement sadly so I couldn't really use all the recommendations for jewellers on here.

I did view it in day light alongside a brilliant a cushion an emerald and an asscher cut stone and I just preferred it especially as I have larger hands (size 7)

I think coming on here was just to make sure I chose ok as we did t have the money to add extra to the insurance amount and I wanted to make sure that the 5k was spent as well as possible.
I must say compared to a jewellery store the value for money going to a wholesaler can't be beat

The light performance and sparkle behaviour of a cushion, emerald, asscher and pear are so different that you are comparing apples to oranges. You need to compare your pear to other pears. If you are concerned about your choice, you need the services of an independent appraiser who can help you evaluate the cut quality with the diamond in hand. The picture quality you posted is very poor and nobody can make much out.
