Do you have pictures of any of the diamonds? ASETs or ISs or have you seen any of them in person? Without knowing a bit more about these diamonds, all we have to go on is the Cut Advisor.

#1 scores a 3.7 on the HCA. Girdle has some thin areas, but not extreme.

#2 scores a 1.2 on the HCA. Medium to slightly thick girdle, so no extremes there. I, SI1, so I'd want to know if you're either colour sensitive or whether the diamond is eye-clean.

#3 scores a 1.4 on the HCA. Why are the measurements unknown? Medium girdle, so not too much weight hiding there. H VS2 so you you wouldn't have to worry much about colour (unless you're incredibly colour sensitive) and inclusions if you verify that it's eye clean, unless you're a total hawk eye.

Thanks for the prompt reply, LaurenThePartier.

I unfortunately do not have pictures of said diamonds, but have seen #2 and #3 in person.

I am a novice when it comes to this (only started shopping), and could not tell a difference between #2 or #3 in terms of colour or clarity. Looking at them face up and from a side profile, for me, the I-colorr was not any "yellower" than the H-color. I don''t consider myself to be sensitive to color. From a size perspective, they were almost the same size visually. Both had very good fire.

I don''t have the measurements for #3 as I forgot to write them down.

Note (flamesuit on) that these rings are from Tiffany&Co. The #1 option was listed as "Excellent" cut with Excellent Polish and Excellent Symmetry.

Does it surprise you that it scored so low on the HCA and still be rated as "Excellent"? I''m eager to learn more...is there a big difference between rocks (assuming all else is equal) a stone that rates 3.7 on the HCA vs 1.2?

Thanks again for your insight!

#2 & #3 both have excellent numbers. When you looked at them in person, did you look at them under a variety of lighting or just the spotlighting? Lighting in jewelry stores is designed to make all stones look good. See if you can get the stones out from under the halogens and over near a window. Even better, get them in a low light environment like under a table and a really well cut stone will stand out over an average one.

The first is what we would refer to as a steep/deep--the crown and pavillion angles are not very complimentary to each other. In some lighting environments, you might not notice, in others it would show leakage and not reflect as much light back to your eyes. GIA's Excellent cut grade has a fairly broad range and includes some angle combinations that just don't work well together--the HCA can help weed those out.

Since you have two other good choices, I would concentrate on those.
