I would love some advice and opinions? Prices seem low compared to others. Any help would be great.

http://www.abazias.com/database/rapinfo.asp?stock=4885129&flag=ps

Round 1.83 H Came up as 0.8 on HCA. Cut seems good. SI1 Clarity...Sent an e-mail and they said it was "eye clean" Girdle listed as thin faceted but no other details. Anything to be concerned with? EGL certificate online. Worth sending on for appraisal? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks...

Sounds nice to me ! The discount is most likely due to the EGL (as oposed to GIA or AGS) cert. It is said that EGL certified stones have some significant chance of turning out one color or clarity lower if re-certed by GIA/ AGS. This is not 100% consistent and it depends on the stone. However, the chance is there and the price reflects that. The worst here, I gues would hae been a more included stone, say a borderline SI2. Since this does not seem to be the case (given seller's claim, easily testable since the eye-clean quality is to be teste with the widest available of tools

), not much can go realy wrong. Appraisals are probably always good, I guess.

As far as I know "eye clean" means "eye clean face-up". Good HCA on an EGL stone sounds like a good buy to me

Not enough info to comment. .8 on the HCA is nice but whether I were spending 1k or 50k I would not base my decision on that alone. Let's get some more details if you're looking for input.

Does Abazias actually have the stone or are they picking it up off of the RapNet database and representing it virtually? Based upon the link /database/rapinfo.asp we have to wonder. We can't tell a thing from the poorly scanned copy of the lab report and thus can't make any sort of judgement regarding the inclusions, ask Abazias for a scanned color copy of the original EGL lab report and some detailed clarity photographs that show the location and extent of each inclusion indicated on the plotting diagram... Then post a link to those images and some of the dealers here can provide you with some accurate insight regarding the diamond... One thing, EGL paper is not considered to be near as accurate as GIA or AGS paper, so it is quite possible that the SI-1 clarity grade isn't all that strong... And that 58% table diameter knocks it out of the range for what is generally considered to be "ideal cut" although EGL wormed their way out of that legal loophole by saying that the proportions of the diamond "are within tolerance" of Tolkowsky's proportions, we have a page on Tolkowsky if you want to know more about that.

Good point bro/sis.

Especially considering it is an EGL stone. Before you drop your hard earned money I would insist upon what Robin/Todd have suggested. There are so many variables that can not be ascertained without a physical inspection.
