Would anything cause a stone to yellow?

All of a sudden one stone in my friend''s eternity band seems to have yellowed. All of the other stones are fine, but one stone looks yellow. Is this possible or what can be attributing it?

Is the ring white gold? Is it possible that the gold needs to be replated? The tint of yellow gold coming out from the white gold could be reflecting a yellow tint?

It is white gold, but it''s an eternity band and only this one stone looks yellowed and it just happpened. Maybe something is under it! Thanks.

dirt(more likely hand lotion) or a hairline crack.
Either way take it to a jeweler for inspection and cleaning.

Yeah, it has to be an external influence, because the diamond itself would not yellow.

Is the stone chipped or damaged? It would be looking strange if it''s broken.
