Would a 59% table look THAT much different than a 57%?

I've heard discussions about how to stay away from tables over 57%.

Would the different in the appearance of a diamond look that dramatic compared to a diamond with a 59% table?

arnoldE,

This question, as a stand-alone, is nearly impossible to answer. The reason people like tables in the 57% (or slightly lower) range has to do with the proportions of a modern round brilliant diamond. The Crown and Pavilion angles, total diamond depth and table percentage (among many other considerations) all play roles in creating the efficiency and intensity of light return in any diamond.

That said, there are people who prefer the look of what is known as a 60/60 diamond, where the table and depth are both in the 60% range. But, without the proportions of the rest of the diamond being correct there are variations in the efficiency of light return which make it impossible to know exactly how the 60/60 diamond will perform.
