I need some help/guidance to determine if this is a stone I should purchase or if it is considered a 'shallow cut'. Here are the specs (GIA graded):

Round Brilliant
Carat - 1.32
Color - G
Clarity - VVS2
Cut - Excellent
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Excellent
Fluorescence - Faint

Table - 60%
Depth - 59.5%
CA - 33
PA - 41

Measurements - 7.14 - 7.17 x 4.26mm

The HCA score is 1.3 despite not having the 'perfect' ranges for table, depth, etc. from what I've read. Based on the specs, and pictures below, is this worth buying at a 10K price or should I continue looking? I am trying to stay at 9-10K price, and in the 1.3 - 1.4 carat range. The stone will be set in a Tacori 2620 rdmd plat band.

Hi There,

I think most of the responses are going to be regarding the clarity. Do you want a VVS stone? Most will tell you it's overkill. Not sure how low you will go on colour.

I'm just about to head out but I did a quick scan on JamesAllen & found a stone you should look at. The plot looks great with some clouds under the table. James Allen can confirm this or any others, if eye clean & issue free. A great size too & just under the 1.50 ct price jump. ;))

Others will chime in. :))

Have a good day.

Also...

If you like that stone or any others, make sure you CALL & put it or them on hold. Lurkers will snap up the stones from under you if you don't. ;))

Accck! Forgot to mention. The stone could be a bit better in regards to spread, but the plot is pretty clean & if you want a VVS stone, this one might fit the bill without you paying any higher for clarity.

Ok,, I'm out. Have a good one.

Here's another one for you... from James Allen.. Remember, if you gather 3 stones (max) from James Allen they will do the ASETS on them. This one is a little smaller but the spread is a bit better for the ct.weight. I did not plug in the stones into the HCA but you should. I just dont have a chance to do so. I suppose everyone is busy but perhaps some can find you other stones to look at.

** Good spread on this & not a lot more $$ than the 1.46. Plot is a bit more cluttered but JA can tell you if eye clean. If they say is ok & it doesn't bother you, get this one. The Medium Fluoro, if fluoro doesn't bother you, would probably help the stone face up a bit whiter. If eye clean, I would pick this over the 1.46. Just my opinion. pssst...it's bigger too.

This one from Brian Gavin Diamonds is lovely, but at almost $2,000 more than the 1.46 stone. It is 1 colour grade better & spread is better but still, is $2K more. It's a suggestion anyway. I put a search in for 1.3 -1.5 G,H, VS 2..& this was the only stone to pop up.

I did take a look on Whiteflash but found a lot of 1.30's, I colour, VS1-2 for over pretty much the same price as the 1.46 H from JA. And the 1.30's are smaller in size as they should be for the lower ct. weight. But they are smaller & more expensive. I didnt link any but if you go to whiteflash.com & plug in your search preferences you will find them.

ETA....put all these stones through the HCA. I havent done that.

thanks Judy!

I actually ended up buying the 1.46 and received it yesterday!
