My GF once told me she wears a size 6 but the ring I bought recently for her seems fairly loose; I could even wear it on my ring finger when the weather is cool. I''ve tried her current ring which would only fit a little loosely over my pinkie. I''m afraid there is every chance that we may have to have it resized to 5.75 or even 5.5.

I do not know of any jeweler I could trust with the job for fear of damaging the stone or pave set, even the shanks. Does anyone have any recommendation? I''m located in Singapore btw.

Attached is a photo of the ring just to give you an idea what I''m afraid of. What goes on in a resize?

Do the diamonds go all the way around the bottom side of the shank? If so, it''ll be more complicated to size it. I probably wouldn''t size it down and opt for sizing balls or something similar because someday she may need the larger size. (This is assuming the size difference is not too great.) I did size a ring with bead-set diamonds before and it did knock some of them loose.

Sizing that down a half a size shouldn’t be a great problem for a properly skilled jeweler but you’re correct that there may be some stone tightening involved. I would start by contacting the jeweler where you bought it.

Thanks for the responses. The melees only go down two thirds down the shanks. I bought it online from a NYC jeweler and I''m loathed to incur 2-way shipping and insurance just for a further 0.25 resize.. Wd rather have it resized locally BUT having a set melee knocked off or worse, center stone scratched is a nightmare I''d rather avoid..

Wouldn''t fixing sizing beads require similar ''melee-loosening'' work ?
Any other suggestions?
