Hi everyone! This is my first post, but I''ve been lurking for quite a while. I have to say this is a really wonderful, infomative place!
To get to the point... The reason I''ve come out of hiding is because of some problems with my setting, and I''m very worried - I found a huge gap between a prong and the diamond - only the tip is touching the diamond. Some background info: it''s a 1.13 classic Tiffany solitaire, and we had the ring resized from size 6 to size 3. I only got the ring last Friday. I haven''t bumped it, dropped it, or had it caught on something. So I was rather surprised to find that huge gap on Monday. I took it back the next day, and was told the problem would be fixed in a week. The SA didn''t seem to think it was too big a deal, and said that she would send the ring back to be checked.
I''m just wondering if this is just a simple case of a bent prong? Or was it just bad workmanship? Could something like this happen to the integrity of the setting as the ring was being resized? Will fixing it affect the setting in any way?
It''s very worrying because I really love my ring. This was the stone that really "spoke" to me and one of the reasons we went for Tiff''s was because I loved that setting - DF and I aren''t in the US right now and given we''re not familiar with the jewelry market here, we decided to go with the original. I''m just really concerned about my ring, and, truth be told, a little disappointed that this happened!
Sorry for the long post! Again, I want to thank all of you for making PS such a wonderful place
I''ve attached a picture of the problem, crossing my fingers it will post the first time!
