Worldwide shortage of 2ct cushion brilliants??

So I'm in a bit of a situation because I live in Asia, and my jeweler who is helping me source says 2ct cushions are really difficult to come by, not just in Asia but worldwide (the 2 stones she showed me were from NY). Something about RBs increasing in price so all the cutters are cutting rounds now. I've visited many shops as well, and they all say 3ct is the minimum for cushions here. Is this true (for those who are part of the trade)? 3ct is NOT a consideration..LOL!

If it's not a worldwide issue, perhaps I should try GOG or ERD and purchase online? I wanted to see the stones and do everything in person, but seems like it's going to be difficult.... How does the online thing work from overseas - does anyone know?

The bf and I were in the market for a 1.5-2 ct cushion brilliant a couple months ago. We were working with Perry at Leon Mege. Perry did say that we would have a tough time finding a cushion brilliant of that size because there were few out there, but he didn't give a specific reason. On top of that, I really wanted a rectangular shape, which narrowed down the choices further. He did find a handful of solid options for us over a month or so. I can't say enough nice things about Perry, he was wonderful to work with and I would highly recommend him. As far as not seeing the stones in person, he did provide videos of stones we were interested in.

However, we ended up purchasing a stone from a fellow PS'er as the price was just too good to pass up. Thanks Kristalulu!! : )

No idea how international purchases work, but I would suggest reaching out to the vendors many have mentioned on PS before, including Perry, Mark at ERD or GOG. They should be able to find you something beautiful.

Cushion brilliants have always been hard to find ...they are cutting so many modified cushions lately.

I would think that you could buy a great 2c cushion from GOG and ERD and have a nice stone even without seeing it in person. They both do videos and GOG will compare several stones for you. I would trust both of these vendors.
