I''m hoping South Korea will win, but Germany is a very close second.
Any of you have favorites?
Favorite players?
Let''s chat all things World Cup!

I'm rooting for Germany, Poland or the US :)
DH didn't go to bed last night because he was worried he would miss the first match this morning! lol

Podolski will probably do really well.
It''s too bad this only occurs every 4 years.

Aside from the US I''ll be cheering for Spain and Argentina and of course South Africa. They played a great game earlier today-I wish they had won! I''m a Barcelona fan so I''m cheering for Spain, and I love Lionel Messi so I have to cheer for Argentina too.

I''m South African, watching the game in South Africa...

I''m really hoping that we make it to the semi-finals at least, but if not, I''m just incredibly proud that we can host this! My SO reckons the final will be Spain and the Netherlands, and because he''s of Dutch descent, he''s hoping the Netherlands will win...

It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds!

Hi Trekkie, did you buy tickets to watch any games?

I wish!! But we''re getting married next year, so all our energies are focused on that.

My soccer-crazy baby brother turned 16 a few weeks ago, so my SO and I gave him tickets to two games being hosted in his city.

He now things my SO is the world''s coolest brother-in-law.

SA all the way!!!! (I''m proudly South African)
My second choice is Spain.
I applied for so many tickets, and only managed to get one game, which I will be attending on Monday. (Netherlands v Denmark)
VERY excited.

My husband is from Hamburg, Germany

It''s a done deal in my house!

Italia (my hubby is Italian), England (where my family is from) and Australia (my girlfriend from Oz is visiting right now, and I used to live there)

I was in Italy for the last World Cup and it was so amazing to see the national pride. I remember a night in Rome when we were trying to catch a train back to our hotel after a long day of exploring---but no one was operating the trains. No one went into work. lol! We ended up having to walk all the way across town. But it was cool to see everyone outside, crowding the streets with Italian flags and celebrating.

As we didn''t qualify - typical - I''ll be supporting Spain although I do have a soft spot for the talent in Argentina and Brazil, but Espana are my faves.

I watched some of the France game last night which was pants and the Greece v South Korea game and SK were really good. The Argentina v Nigeria game which has just fnished was the best game so far. Looking forward to watching the England v USA game tonight.

Em...............I even have a chart of who''s playing and when in my kitchen. I know, sad, I''m more of a football fan than my DH.

England vs. US tonight.

I''m American, DH is English, and we live in England. It''s been very playful and teasing in our house all week with a little wager on the game. It''s half-time now, 1-1. Not the best US goal ever, but it still counts!

S. Korea and Australia will be the teams we are cheering for in this house (me and TGuy respectively). Amelia will be cheering for the U.S.

Oops. Double post.

My heart says Portugal but my head says Spain to win it all. I love World Cup!

Anyone catch the Nike Football/Soccer "Write the Future" ad? It''s awesome!

Nike Ad

Even Kobe Bryant dances Samba! LOL Love Rooney hugging the Queen and Gael Garcia Bernal taking a dive as Christian Ronaldo who scored against Homer Simpson. Hahaha! Fantastic.

Nike Ad commercial is rad! World Cup rocks!

Well I''m from New Zealand and this is the first time in a very LOOOONNNGGG time NZ has qualified. It''s kinda a funny world cup atmosphere over here, we KNOW the NZ team is going to get their asses handed to them but we''re all still pretty upbeat and stoked that they made it this far! Yay All Whites!

USA!!!! The guy at the end of our street is flying his English WC flags all over his yard. The rest of the neighborhood has American flags everywhere.

DH and I were visiting Miami when Brazil won the WC and it was amazing how the celebrations were exploding all over.

My favorite player is Brian Ching of the Houston Dynamo, but he didn''t make the US team. Landon Donovan is HOT!

Tim Howard is one tough player after the hit he took yesterday.....what a guy!

Loved the look on David Beckham''s face when the US scored our goal yesterday....

Well the Netherlands won yesterday. I'm happy because I was supporting them. I managed to snap a few pictures, including this one. What a save (even though it was the Denmark keeper)!

The stadium in Johannesburg (Soccer City stadium). It was based on the design of an African melting pot. Some international reporter said that it had been vandalised, but that''s not true, the "missing" sections were designed to allow natural light into the structure.

Some supporters...

We are watching them at work but with the volume turned down - those horns sounds like a big swarm of bees.

I root for Germany or the U.S.

I can''t believe Spain just lost to Switzerland! That''s never happened. Most of the favorites have really had a bad start to the tournament...

Me neither, but this will make the Cup that much more interesting.

I was raised all over the world so I''m rooting for:

South Korea (Hubby is from there)
Germany (I lived in Hamburg during their soccer domination around 1990)
South Africa (I love Z.A. lived in Pretoria for 4 years in my adolescent years)
USA (our home country now, my kids are proud Americans)
