In keeping with the positive, educational spirit of the forums (and to have a little fun!) please list some words that you LOVE! If you have something unique or unusual, help us all broaden our vocabulary and list some of your favorites here.

I''ll start:

felicitous - because it just sounds happy!

I love when people use funky words to describe things. Always makes me chuckle.

Loquacious! I actively look for ways to use it in conversations.

there are lots but one of my favs to hear or say is MAGMA...just fun to say

Hi, Whitby! I love the word haven too--DH and I possibly want to name a future child Haven.

I love words, these are my very favorites:

- Tangerine
- Javelin
- Vendetta
- Vivacious

I love them for the way they sound, not their meanings, of course. I always tell DH that if we ever buy a lot of property and build a home on it, we''re naming our street Tangerine, and we''re going to live at 17 Tangerine.

This reminds me of that Austin Powers movie where Dr. Evil keeps repeating MAG-MA! (At least, I think it''s Dr. Evil.)

Bliss
Vivacious
Twee

Exquisite, fabulous, magnificent, flamboyant, meander, vivacious, and I''m sure there are many more I can''t think of.

BTW, I had no intentions of the words you hate post to turn into something inappropriate. I''m sorry if the post offended anyone. I meant for it to be something like words you don''t like how they sound, etc. I really am sorry.

I just happen to keep a book.... Actually, the book started out being a book where I wrote definitions of words I didn''t know, many years ago. I keep adding to it. It contains some of these words from my early days as a reader, but not all of these. It also contains many more. These are among my favorites because I use these a lot, not because they have a beautiful "sound". If I want to hear words that sound beautiful, I speak French or Italian. That is what it sounds as if Haven chose to do when she made her choice of words, hence: "vendetta"!!!

ubiquitous
esoteric
epiphany
ineffable

Thinking of, "aurora" made me think of the film, "The Haiku Tunnel". I hope everyone posting to this thread has had the pleasure of seeing that delightful movie! Everytime I see the word, "aurora" I think of Josh saying the names of the attorneys and the names of the secretaries, with the name, "Aurora" just rolling out of his mouth!

Hubris.

I just like the way it sounds. It''s not a word I often use.

Perfect - A friend of mine uses this word often and pronounces it perfectly with as much emphasis on the fect as the per. I love it when she says it.
Orrery - Not a beautiful word but I like it because there seems to be too many Rs when you say it.

Perspicacity or Perspicacious.

"Acute mental vision or discernment." - Webster''s

I like what it means, but I love the way it sounds. You never hear this word, and I''ve only seen it in print. Why? Too long when a shorter word will do??

Onomatopoeia. I like how it sounds.

Ameliorate. I knew it in French first (améliorer) and loved it.

I was glad I had my book of words close at hand because I had to look up, "orrery"! I then, dutifully, wrote it in my book so that I could "learn" it. In case anyone else is not familiar with the word, it is a moving clockwork model of the bodies of the solar system with the bodies represented by balls. It got its name from the patron of the putative inventor (George Graham), Charles Boyle, who was the Fourth Earl of Orrery!
