As an estate settlement I received a stone and GIA evaluated as follows:

Round cut
IF clarity
E color
Ideal cut
2.34 Carat

In what price range can I expect to sell this stone if need be?

Is there a market for such a stone?? as I don''t want to undervalue or over value the price....

Thanks in advance

Welcome!

You might get some ideas on how to sell this stone from this thread - https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/reselling-gems-jewelry-what-can-you-expect.17952/

If I was in your position, I would get this diamond evaluated by an independant appraiser, to give a detailed report on this diamond and advise you on value, as it could have different price points depending on various markets and selling methods. Make sure you make your intentions known to him, that you wish to sell this stone, as this can help him advise you properly on your options and how much you could expect to receive depending on which method of sale you choose, such as auction house, selling to a jeweller/ collector, consigment, private sale etc. Personally I wouldn't want to speculate as I am not able to do so, regarding any potential value, that can only be determined by an expert appraiser with the stone in his hand to give you an accurate valuation for the market you wish to sell in.

Here is a tool you can use to find appraisers in your area. https://www.pricescope.com/appr_list.aspx

It''s worth around $60K to $70K if it''s really an IF, E, ideal cut.

Should be interesting to see how the appraisal comes out.

Ideal cut
GIA would evaluate as Excellent cut, not ideal. What''s on the certificate?

I think it is possible that the stone may predate GIA cut grading and the '' Ideal Cut" may have been a description given to the stone by other means. An appraiser again should be able to tell what sort of cut quality the stone has, although the E and IF may be the key valuation factors.

Ah, I may have misinterpreted the post. I took:
I received a stone and GIA evaluated as follows:
to mean:
I received a stone and I had the GIA evaluate it. The results are as follows. Splinter is awesome.
Of course you can see where the error of my interpretation may have crept in...
