Hi I am new here and I recently acquired an old heirloom from my great aunt in Brasil. I was wondering about what the price range would be so here are the specs

  • shape old miner cut
  • diameter 11.30-10.78mm
  • depth 7.20mm (65.2%)
  • gridle slightly thin to thin
  • clarity SI1
  • color I
  • weight 5.35 carats

It is a platinum ring and unfortunately the diamond does not have any type of certificate. Another question I have is that do auctions for diamonds taking place in Europe generally give a higher selling price? My jeweler friend once told me that, but I want to make sure. Thanks for reading this post and helping me out.

He hei! No, I am not going to venture and put a price on this.

David Atlas ("Old Miner" is his pricescope avatar) is the old cut diamonds specialist here. You may want a professional appraisal on the piece, and he would be one person you may want to contact (PM and/or email) out of all Pricescope.

Your idea to have this piece auctioned seems right and the ring may add value to the stone beyond the clarity-color-cut trio. Not a simple matter. A large old cut with high color and clarity is not at all a frequest encounter and these stones are quite fashionable. Such details and value factors are best identified by an specialized appraiser. Not much I can say from this other side of the screen

and I'm getting it appraised as soon as I can find the time.

The stone and ring sound fabulous!! You would definitely want this piece appraised and authenticated!!
