Hello and thank you for reading my post. I have a couple of questions about this. If the diamond is 2.3 carats rough, what would the conceivable final carat weight be after cutting? Or does that depend on the shape of the cut? And in rough, would she be able to sell it if she wanted to? I know she was digging for her own diamond to make an engagement ring, but would she be able to sell this diamond? It’s so, what could she expect to get for it? Or is that unknown because they did not mention the clarity yet? These are all just questions based on curiosity, combined with my utter lack of knowledge of the diamond business.

It is unlikely there is an ideal cut 1ct round from the main part of the stone with a top sawn off to result in a shallow around 0.25. So you can search on Pricescope for say an HCA excellent 0.90ct and 0.25ct - looks to be K color. no idea of clarity.
