... the About page? I can''t say I''ve ever read it before, but I find it hard to believe it has always said what it currently says.

https://www.pricescope.com/about.asp

Something fishy is going on.

Really? I''m kind of appalled then. I don''t really get the point.

That''s a very weird page.....

You know what, I think previously it stopped at the little green smiley face.

It just seems extremely unprofessional to me. And a bit offensive. At first I thought it had been hacked during the changeover, but I guess that''s not the case if it''s always said that.

The tone is somewhat inflammatory and school-playgroundish.

Perhaps a rewrite is in order with something that doesn't smack of, "Nenner Nenner".

Unprofessional, but it made me laugh.

If PS was an .edu instead of a .com it would cease to exist in short order, I imagine.

What do you mean by the second part? I''m not sure what the differences in rules are between .edu and .com sites.

.edu is usually reserved for traditional educational institutions.

Yes - which generally translates into conservative design and phrasing.

Conservative, serious and reserved. Exactly.

Who wrote that page? I can''t imagine......

Oh, I thought you meant something more specific than that. Yes, .edu sites are more conservative.

No, it has always been there.

Seems like a relic from the old administration.

I get where they were going with it in 2005, but I think a new face needs to be slapped onto PS for the 2.0 rollout.

ditto- that page was not at all appealing to me

It does seem like something from the "older" PS.

I completely agree. It seems to be the OPPOSITE of the community spirit everyone seems to foster here, and to be quite honest, if I read that before today, I probably wouldn''t have joined PS. And that would have been a shame because I would have missed out on a great community and an outstanding educational environment. I think it really needs to be rewritten - in a tasteful manner this time.

For some reason, I am not offended at all. I find it funny and actually rings true to what I see PS as. It''s a say it like it is page.

I don''t know that I see PS in that way at all. Some of the members, certainly, but not really the site as a whole. I see it as a diamond education site.

I'm not offended either, and agree with you Charmy. But having been here for quite a while, things have definitely changed from those days to an extent. I can see where L&I were going with that page. No doubt they would not have cared if people were offended by it, either

I should add that I think the page reflects the culture of Rocky Talky more than the sub-forums.

i agree it tells it like it is. i don''t know that it''s a relic from the old because that was what...3 or 4 years ago? wouldn''t it have been changed by now?

personally i like how frank it is.

and ditto charmy re: it seems more related to the ''diamond'' forums rather than the other subs.

Ziiing! Nice, Yssie. I lol''d.

I liked it, because it reminds me that PS is a consumer site driven by consumers helping one another out and dispelling the cloud of BS the industry likes to perpetuate in order to keep consumers flocking into Zales like baffled sheep waiting to be fleeced.

that was there before - I didn''t read the WHOLE thing but I skimmed the first half a while back and it''s the same now.

it doesn''t offend me either, but it is pretty immature... I''d guess it was from old admin also.

It is a relic from the old administration and it will be something that is updated soon.

It is not a relic it is a tradition!
Honestly that PS has been overran by 50 million users and grown into a great but vastly different PS but I will still be sad to see the page go.

I thought it was funny, and yup, fits for RT and not the other forums. RT is a different world
