I''ve seen an interesting diamond which includes the following extracts from the GIA report:

.
.
.

.......................................................................................................
GIA Cut grade: Excellent
(scores 2.6 on HCA and is rated VG in all four HCA categories)

Crown: 35.5''
Pavilion: 40.8''
Table: 57%
Depth: 61.7%
Girdle: medium-slightly thick

Clarity grade: VS2

Comments:
Twinning wisps, internal graining and surface graining are not shown.
........................................................................................................

.
.
.

I''ve always avoided such diamonds, but this particular stone has a number of good features.
How much of an issue might these wisps and grains be, since they fall within VS2 grade?
Are they potentially able to impair correct light passage through the stone by deflecting or bending the light?

Thanks,
FB

If they are mentioned in the comments section of a report such as " twinning wisps, internal graining not shown" then this normally indicates they are a non issue and are mentioned for the sake of completeness. I suppose if you had equipment which was sensitive enough to measure the effect they could possibly slightly impair the passage of light but to the best of my knowledge in VS2 generally not.
