Okay, so here''s the situation...

I live in Panama (Central America) but my bank is in Canada. In order to purchase a stone and setting, I need to wire the money to the dealer. However, my bank will not allow me to send a wire unless I do it in person, at the branch. Unless I''m transferring to someone at the same bank. The bank is RBC in Canada or RBC Centura in USA.

Anyone have any ideas around this?

Could you write yourself a check and then cash it at a local bank and get a wire done from there?

Could you send a cashier''s check or something like that? Usually the "wire price" is because with CC''s they pay high fees I think...

Maybe you could send a Money Order instead? I think that''s a guaranteed instrument, which is probably what the vendor is after.

Does it have a partner bank? Like Bank of America in the US is partnered with Barclays in the UK. If so, they may let you make a transfer from there.

Hiya, I recently had difficulty in doing a wire transfer from my bank in australia to the US.

However, the bank instructed me that I could do an ''international money transfer'' which is slightly different, but almost the same?? I could actually do this via my online banking system - it took 24 hours (so a little slower than a EFT wire) but it worked fine and with the time difference between Australia and the US it actuall yarrived on the same calendar day!

Good luck!
