All this talk about Northern CA wineries is making me want to take a trip! Not going to happen anytime soon, so lets talk about our favorite wineries instead.

Some of my favorites include...

In Amador:
Dobra Zemjla http://dobraz.com/ for being in the most fabulous little cave like building and having some fantastic reds.

Story http://www.zin.com makes an amazing Zin (shocking based on their web address, I''m sure!).

In El Dorado:
I love Fitzpatrick http://www.fitzpatrickwinery.com because they built their own log cabin (the wine isn''t terrific) but the woodfired oven on the deck is fantastic and it would be a fun place to stay for a night.

Latcham www.latcham.com has such a nice staff, good port and amazing brownies.

Charles B. Mitchell http://www.charlesbmitchell.com/, one of my favorites for wine and watching Charles in action, he''s a bit of a spitfire.

I haven''t been to Windwalker http://www.windwalkervineyard.com/ since they changed owners but I can''t imagine their wine not being good.

In Healdsburg:
I haven''t spent a lot of time here but the few times I''ve been were great experiences. I recall really enjoying:

Alexander Valley Vineyards http://www.avvwine.com/

Rodney Strong http://www.rodneystrong.com/

Dry Creek http://www.drycreekvineyard.com/

Arista http://www.aristawinery.com/

Murphy-Goode http://www.murphygoodewinery.com/

Belvedere http://www.belvederewinery.com/

What are your favorite wineries (wherever they may be!).

Sonoma/Napa

V. Sattui - http://www.vsattui.com/
You can picnic there. They have a food shop with yummy stuff to eat with their wine!

Viansa - http://www.viansa.com/
Great food store, wine is eh. I've had better wine but great picnic grounds and food store.

Mumm - http://mummnapa.com/
You have GOT to do one of their tasting menus...divine.

Ooh, this will be a cool thread to reference back to when we plan our wine tasting trips!

I''m totally embarrassed to say I have not yet been up to Napa! And I live in California! That will change in summer when I go up to the Silverado resort for work (tough job, I know.)

But I have tasted in some other regions, so here are my favs...although I am lazier than Kimberly and am not posting links...

Santa Ynez area (near Santa Barbara)
-Foxen
-Arthur Earl (tasting room only in Los Olivos)
-Sanford

Paso Robles area
-Justin
-Eberle
-Castoro (really only for a certain zin I like)
-Tobin James

Australia - Barossa Valley
-Rockford (my all time fave)
-Two Hands (although they seem more commercial these days...I went right when their tasting room opened)
-Peter Lehman
-Henschke
-Charles Melton
-Langmeil
-Yalumba

I also like the Coonawarra region, but don''t have a winery that particularly stands out.

My favorite winery is Del Dotto Vineyards in Napa: www.deldottovineyards.com They are a small winery but had the most fun tour and their wines are superb!
