Vote 2 for anything electric or battery-powered.

I have a #4 but I'd love to try an electric one. Anything to get that wine in my glass faster ;)

Electric #2. Love it.. DD gave it to me for Xmas. It's perfection..

The fastest way is to just break the bottle, get on your hands and knees, and lick up the wine.

I'm a big fan of small and simple stuff for our tiny kitchen so I use #1.
I have #5, and really wanted to love it, but sometimes the cork is too tight or I'm too unskilled or both.
The cork gets pushed into the bottle. :angryfire:

I have a number 2 - love it!!

Love my electric wine opener. Bought it at Frontgate. Originally looked for one for my father who has a really bad tremor--makes it very easy for him; now just need to find an automatic way for him to tee up his golf ball  getting old sux

1&4. But now all wine bottles come with twist tops that I haven't used any of them for years. I have a few special bottles that are still corked. So, will use 4 when the time comes.

Really? Almost all my wines still come with "corks". They aren't necessarily made with real cork, because I know that's getting harder to come by, but they have those synthetic corks.

The image of screw-top wine is changing.

It used to be the cheapest wine.
Now higher-end wine producers are switching over.

I had heard that because of cork issues. I was just surprised to see him say that "all wine comes with twist tops" now because that isn't my experience.

Yes, in AUS, the switch came in maybe 5-8 yrs ago, maybe longer as time does fly- esp when drinking soooo much!!! lol. Now, all wines in the bottle stores are twist tops. So much easier - very practical. Anyone can open the bottle. No need to sift through cork bits, if the cork splits upon opening.

I have a few 'older' bottles of wine with corks in them that will surface for drinking soon!!

#1 - we have sooooooo many variations on #1! When we go wine tastings in Niagara on the Lake in the summer, each winery seems to throw a few in - so we come home with about 8 or 9 EACH year! Even when we say no thank you, they include as advertising, so we just pass them along...

I'd love to try #3 - just looks so industrial and high power - that looks like it would open a bottle lickety split!

Ahh I see. Guess we're slower to change over here in the States.

I mostly buy Rieslings and they almost always have a twist top.

Have one of those, too!
My friend has a Tupperware one. Sadly these are now obsolete, but can find a few around somewhere given we are now twist tops.

I have all the ones you pictured Kenny but the one I use most often is the one posted by marypoppins.

We keep #1 in the camper and something that is kinda like #4 in the house. We are in the states and it seems almost always our wines have corks but we mostly buy from local vineyards that do there own bottling. That may be why no screwtops?

I just went to the store tonight and investigated the wine aisle and most of the ones in our Von's here in CA are still "corked".

#1. To me it's the easiest/fastest/cost efficient way to open a bottle if you know what you're doing.

#4 and it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Everyone who watches me use it can't believe how fast/good it works.

I like #1. It works.

I've used 1, 4, the newer version of 4, and 5. My favorite is the newer version of 4. It's quick and easy. People who try ours love it. I also liked 5 because it keeps the cork intact but it could be easy or hard depending on the cork.

Old fashioned and labor intensive compare to a couple of ones you posted and some PSers have.

Not sure how to get an image from a website, so I'll try for url for a wing corkscrew:

OMG, I meant to include that commonly-used one.
Someone just shoot me. ;(

Bang, kenny! (but I'm non-violent, so I used my daughter's water gun)

I have a #1, but am a klutz and cannot use it well, so I stick with the same kind mary poppins posted, which I've recently realized I've had since I got married 23 years ago.

We have two Screw Pulls. Love them.

I have 1, 2, 4, and 5 - 2 and 4 were gifts. I use #1.

I'm at the Biltmore Estate for the weekend and everyone uses #1, similar to most fine dining restaurants (I've also seen #5) but you definitely have to know what you're doing ---and clearly I don't when it comes to using that church key.
At home I use #4, but was in the store at the winery yesterday checking out other options to make the opening process faster. Imagine my surprise to see this post. Was curious about purchasing #2, but didn't know enough about it. Thanks for the reviews.

P.S. No screw tops at the Biltmore, but one of my favorite wines is a screw top. The screw tops are great when traveling, and most of them aren't too bad with regards to taste.

P.S.S. Never knew this until this weekend, (and completely off-topic), but if you want to re-cork the bottle, put the cork into the microwave for about 60 seconds or less (each microwave varies), which will soften the cork and allow you to re-cork.

Malbec- awesome tip about the cork and microwave! Never knew that! Thanks

I have this one from Brookstone, this is my 2nd one, the first one I got I had for many years and it finally broke (i really like wine) so I got a new one this year for Christmas..I had an electric opening, but it broke within a couple of years and I didnt really like it...this one I just love!
