Hi, PS''ers!!
This is my very first post! I''ve learned so much from the PS forums during the past couple of months while my boyfriend and I have been searching for engagement rings.
I''m in love with cushion cut diamonds and we finally found the perfect one last week (2.29 ct modified cushion brilliant (i love the "crushed ice" look!), G-VS1, 7.4mmX8.2mm)!
Well, maybe it''s not absolutely perfect because even though the diamond is beautiful head-on, when I look at the stone at an angle (for example, when my hand is resting on the table), I see areas that just don''t sparkle at all and really look "glassy."
One jeweler told me that this was due to lower depth percentage (63%) and resulting smaller number of facets, and that I just need to keep looking.
Another jeweler told me that all cushions have these "windows" at angles due to the corner facets, and that I''d better just accept it or pick another cut.
Does anyone know which jeweler is right?
Thanks for your help!
