Congratulations to Prince William and Kate.
The Ring chosen by William for Kate's engagement ring will forever bare the memory of the wonderful Diana. I would love to read what everyone thinks and how everyone feels about it! Be it said that William loves his mother and of course Kate as well, but with the complicated memories that will be brought to bare with every moment that Kate wears this ring, will she be able to weather the endless comparisons to Diana? Will Camilla again be faced with the deep resentment of the public for her role in the breakup of Diana's marriage?
So much comes with this symbolic amazingly beautiful ring, will it be too much?
It will be obvious that never will a day go by when this ring will be seen and not be thought of as Diana's. Diana is here to stay and perhaps now, more then ever, her presence will be strong, and I for one am glad for it. I, like so many, love Diana for her many facets and her ability to touch people through her caring nature.

I have seen many articles of course about the engagement of Wills and Kate....it still surprises me that so many are still getting it wrong with regard to the size of Diana's sapphire. What a shame they still don't really try to get it right. Well, here i have made a collage for us all to see the true size of Diana's ring, many examples in here of my own sapphire ring along side Diana's, size can be seen easily as i have made my own hand the correct and same size as Diana's and or Kates....My sapphire, for the records is 7.5 carats. and measures about 12x10... So, this should give an idea.
Diana's ring is about 6-8 carats, depending on it's depth. But, no more then that. set in 18 karat white gold...

Of course i have been seeing a lot of talk about this ring that kate is now wearing being the same ring that Diana was engaged in, of course, this is not exactly true. The ring that Diana was engaged with was from garrard's but, it was remade within the first year that Diana wore it. One would speculate that it was done because of the royals dismay that the ring was directly out of the garrards christmas catalogue of 1981 and so, anyone could have purchased it. To have it remade, made it unique. So, the ring Diana wore and the one Kate now wears probably bare the same sapphire, but are two different settings. Ill add some pics for everyone.

With the ring of Diana will come such feeling and memory from people all around the world, here's hoping Kate will be able to bare the heavy load of now living with such a powerful thing so contained within this ring. I know it may sound as if I am being a bit too overly expressive about the whole thing, but if you really do sit back and think about what this ring symbolizes, it can become overwhelming. She will have this symbol of Diana's broken dreams, of her charity, of her tragic accident, of her endearment to the world as their people's princess, queen of hearts, of the deads Camilla did that helped to end Diana's marriage through sadness, of Diana's sad face during so many public events, of her pleas for Charles to end his affair, of her efforts to find happiness and her love for her boys. With such a public life and so much support from people around the world, this ring may bring with it too much for Kate to bare, but only time will tell, when 10, 20 even 30 years down the road, people continue to compare her to Diana, and this ring most certainly will still be referred to as Diana's, will Kate take it in stride, or resent it. Can she step out of Diana's shadow and be her own woman, can she carve out a place in the public's eyes and somehow separate herself from Diana? I don't know, and I'm not too sure anyone can. Only time will tell. Im only being honest when i say that there is and always will be so much love for Diana, this ring may have well been the wrong choice for Kate, because i don't think that we will ever stop seeing it as Diana's ring.

Diana's ring was one of the most interesting pieces of jewelry that made me a lover of all things jewelry! This I know id true for many of us. It is fascinating to see it again after all these years when I think perhaps we had become used to the thought that we would never see it again...
