Will you get the new Omicron updated booster?

Hubby and I both got our second COVID boosters today - me Moderna and he Pfizer. We both got flu shots as well. I got both of mine in one arm and he opted to get one in each arm. The Moderna is still somewhat limited so I was glad to get mine!

hubby scheduled his 2nd booster for next week, he couldn't get Moderna so he is getting Pfizer, I am going to separate my flu shot and 3rd booster this time, I am going to get my flu shot next week and I go to the doctor in November and will get my 3rd newish booster, I got my 2nd one in August before we went on vacation, so I will wait another month. Got to get on my youngest son's butt to get his flu shot and 2nd booster, he is lagging behind but he is too busy he is worried he wont feel good afterwards (he felt bad after his 1st booster). Oldest son and wife got their 2nd booster a couple of weeks ago (he has long haulers covid) and he said it made him pretty sick for almost a week...not sure about DIL for the most part she doesn't have too many issues with the shots.

I had the Pfizer bivalent one (4th and sesonal booster), apart from a sore injection site as expected, no other side effect.

I had the flu jab a few days later on the same arm, and felt tired for a day or so.

DK :))

I scheduled our flu shots for the 20th..It’s a little earlier than I wanted but we have so many things going on..I didn’t want to push it out too far.

We have ours scheduled for 10/25. Both the flu shot and Moderna booster.

We got the Moderna booster this afternoon. The pharmacist said people were reporting that they were feeling more tired after receiving this latest booster than pervious boosters.

Bummer. I always plan for 2-3 days in bed in case I need it. The last booster only had me in bed for 1 day, but this one sounds worse. Which probably is to be expected since its update and cover omicron.

I was a bit more tired after the updated Pfizer booster than the earlier ones, and had what I would call minor chills off and on, which I hadn't had with the vaccine or previous boosters, but I was fine after one day. My arm didn't really hurt, however, my arm was sore for 3 days from the flu shot, which has never happened with the flu vaccine in the past. Who knows, Nothing horrible at all. Just a bit of malaise from both (which I did not get at the same time).

The Bivalent booster only gave me a sore arm. I also ran a little warm..but not a fever. I’m always tired so I didn’t notice any extra tiredness. My husband was very tired for one day.

flu and the new pfizer booster this afternoon, so far so good!
Sore arm that the shots were in, my neck and other arm are a total wreck today but I dont think that has anything to do with the shots.

It’s strange how people react differently to the covid vaccines.

I’ve only had the Moderna vaccines. I have a slight headache today and just feel run down. I feel much better after this booster than the previous ones.

DH has had an awful headache, sore arm and has felt really tired all day. My husband felt worse after this booster then any of the previous boosters.

What took you so long? ;)2

Pfizer's booster came out weeks (months?) ago but I'm sticking with the same maker, Moderna.
My insurance company only recently got Moderna, so they quickly built up a long waiting list.

I probably could have walked into a chain drug store and gotten it earlier, but because computers, software, and humans are not infallible I want to get all my vax shots from the same entity, my insurance company.
Also I'd rather have only one vaccine card to carry around, not multiple cards.

We have taken our vaccination cards to each vaccination so they are all on one card. Does make it easier for documentation.
I have a very sore arm today as does hubby. I had both shots in one arm and he had them in separate arms. His flu shot arm is not very sore though; certainly not as sore as the booster arm. Perhaps a bit of tiredness but not enough to stop daily activities. Small price to pay for the protection IMO!

I’m happy you’re getting it!

I am taking both kids to get their trial omicron boosters in the next week - assuming everyone stays healthy. Son should get his Moderna booster tomorrow and daughter will get her Pfizer on Wednesday. Just hoping for no preschool whammies in that time!

@MamaBee we got our preservative free flu vaccine yesterday and no side effects. Last year too we didn't have any side effects from the flu vaccine. Last year was the first year I had no side effects from a flu vaccine and am surprised this year also no side effects. This is from someone who gets side effects from most things.

We got our bivalent Moderna vaccine a few weeks ago (month ago?) the first week it was available. I shared that here. I did experience side effects but not worse than all the previous Covid vaccine side effects. Lasted about 36? hours or so. Fever, aches, chills. A small price to pay to lessen the severity of the disease (hopefully) should we come down with it.

Next vaccines to get are maybe hep A and B (still unsure if I want to get those) and the pneumonia vaccine. All of these recommended by my hepatologist. Actually, she strongly advised I get these additional vaccines. But I am unsure what to do so not rushing into anything. My risk for hep A and B are quite small as I see it. And well, pneumonia too. But I do respect my hepatologist so am giving it serious thought.

You read my mind @missy..I was going to ask
you when you were getting your flu vaccine. That’s good you didn’t get any side effects. We have appointments to get ours on the 20th. S and I already got our pneumonia vaccines. That’s because we are older. You are still young..I think we had to start getting them at 60. We’ve had two..the 13 and 23.. I’m pretty sure we never got the Hep vaccines..

I've now had two covid 19 vaccinations (both Pfizer); two regular boosters (Pfizer); and the new, bivalent booster (Pfizer). I always got bad headaches until this bivalent booster. Once I got an itchy rash all the way up the arm in which I got the vaccination. This time I got a mild, itchy rash in the arm in which I got the vaccination. Minor variations on a theme.

I have put off my 'flu vaccination this year. Usually I have had it by now.

Had the Shingles and the Pneumonia vaccinations already.

I had previously had a shingles vaccine but am now being told that the newer one (2 part) is much more effective. Shingles is a nasty monster I am not interested in meeting! Will now consider it since the COVID boosters and flu is done.

I recently received the pneumonia vaccine and had previously been vaccinated for Hep B.

I had previously had a shingles vaccine but am now being told that the newer one (2 part) is much more effective.

If I recall correctly, I was told the old shingles was about 50% effective and the new one is supposed to be something around 90%. And that if you got the old one, you can still get the new one. I got the new one and had no ill effects, but one of my employees who is around 50 y.o. had horrible side effects from her first dose of it. I don't know if she got the second dose or not. But she is the only person I know who had severe side effects that she attributed to the new shingles vax.

I’ve had three vaccines for Shingles. I got the regular one first. Years later I got the two part Shingrex vaccines. I remember only having a pretty sore arm..

I have shingles.
I just love having them. :kiss2:

They prevent the rain from ruining our house. :lol-2:

Feeling totally blah today, sore arm that got the shots,no energy, headache and just general blah that is more than just my neck and arm pain. Worst reaction to any covid vaccine I have had.
I have heard the same from a few others that the new pfizer vaccine caused more side effects than the others.
Nothing scientific but interesting.

@Karl_K I want you to feel better really soon. You don’t need that with your neck and arm pain. I am one of the nut cases that like when there’s a reaction to the vaccine. I feel it means it’s working for you.

My wife and I both got the covid booster and flu shots two weeks ago. No reactions nor pains.

Yes, that was exactly what I was told. I have also heard of bad side effects of the new one which is why I didn't run right out and get it. My mother had shingles on her back and it was simply horrible. The nerve pain lingered for a long time and she was scarred from the blisters. That's what spurs me on to get the new one. Glad to hear that you had no serious side effects; makes me feel more positive about it!

My husband and I got the Shringix vaccine. IIRC Greg had no ill side effects and I had a fever for a day or two. Not worse than the Covid vaccine side effects for me. We got both Shingrix vaccines 6 months apart. I had shingles before and let me say the vaccine is worth it. I hope I never get shingles again
