Inauguration Day is always a school holiday in The District and the environs. No one wants to be on the roads. I accidentally booked a doctor's appointment for January 20 for about 15 minutes before I realized that that was inauguration Day and cancelled it. I don't want to be anywhere near The District that day. I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere near there on any Inauguration Day, but on this one there are huge demonstrations planned. I cannot imagine trying to drive from Connecticut to Virginia and back to keep a January 20 doctor's appointment. It usually takes me 5-6 hours to drive door to door from my Virginia home to my Connecticut home if there is no traffic. One Wednesday before Thanksgiving it took 11 1/2 hours. I would bet that the day before inauguration Day would be a record setter.

I hadn't really thought about whether or not I will watch it. It's not really something that I've felt the need to watch in the past (no matter who the president is). I do like to see what a First Lady wears though (any First Lady - not specifically this one).

I think it is our responsibility to watch and scrutinize everything that a president does. This is the pomp and circumstance part and after the 20th we will continue on as a nation. Despite sooo many people being sooo depressed about it. I will revel in the fact that Hillary is not on the podium and that there is a possibility that the grip that the government has on its people will be loosened even ever so slightly. Be cautious and vigilant and open minded.
