This is very similar to what Barbx was just asking on a previous thread, but I didn''t want to hijack it!! If I purchase a stone through wf, will they set it in my engagement ring if I send it to them? I am thinking of purchasing an upgrade to my e-ring at the end of the year and wondered if they would set it in my ring. B&M''s tend to say no unless the stone was purchased at their store

Thanks!

I was in the same predicament when I purchased my diamond upgrade from DCD. I had a little trouble finding a jeweler to set the stone in my existing setting but I did find one. Tip, don''t tell the jeweler that you purchased the diamond online. I told that to two jewelers and both of them declined to set the stone for me. Tell him it was inherited, taken as payment on a debt owed to you etc., etc. I told him that we''d purchased the diamond from a relative with a failed engagement. The jeweler had to order a new head to accomodate the bigger diamond but was very nice about setting it for me. I have since had him do several other projects for me, such as create the pendant in my avatar and mount my old diamond in it.

I thought about asking DCD to do the setting work for me but I would have had to ship them my old ring with the old diamond still in it to remove and then have them set the new diamond and ship both the old center diamond and the ring with new center diamond back to me. I just thought it would be easier and less expensive to have it done locally, especially when I factored in the cost to ship and insure the packages both ways. Also, if you aren''t pleased with how it turns out, then you''ll have to ship the ring back to Whiteflash to re-do. At least a local jeweler can make it right for you without all of the hassle of re-shipping and will be better about checking or adjusting the prongs in the future. I think it''s important to have a local jeweler that you can trust for repairs.

Thanks for the advice, that''s a good one!! I agree with you on shipping the rings back and forth, etc. It would be such a hassle and I''m not very fond of the postal system and UPS, FED EX, etc. I will try your route when the time comes!!
Thanks again!

IrishEyes,

As an option, if you purchase the stone from WF we do offer some setting services. Please call us at 1-877-612-6770 if you would like to discuss the possibilities.

Best,
