I've got a 1.7 round in a plat solitaire setting but always yearned for something more detailed. I love this Single Stone setting. For my size stone and finger size 4.5, do you think it looks appropriate or will it look like I'm trying to trick my stone into looking bigger? My band is a thin pave eternity.

This is a 1.5 not sure finger size.

I would like to achieve this look of this wedding set. Their instagram is addictive!

not a diamond expert and I agree with people, the best ring is the ring that you love... but at the same time, why stick corners on an MRB stone to make it look like the cheap square cuts???

I'm confused. Those settings are stunning. I think most stones would look good in them.

I think the setting you posted is gorgeous and would look lovely on your hand. And IMO no, I don't think it looks like you are trying to trick people. Personally, I love rings with some visual interest and pretty details!

That first setting is gorgeous and so well made, IMO the only rings that are designed to "trick" people are illusion set rings and this is certainly NOT anything like those.

I like them both. I have looked at rings similar to the first one and realized that the diamond fades into the background. The diamond lost its edges and blended in with the ring. You can actually see that in the picture as well. The second ring seems to make the diamond more visible and therefore "pop" better. Hope that makes sense.

Yes that's what's bothering me about the first one. I want lots of detail but sometimes the vintage halos make the centre diamond look lost / not highlighted as much - as a solitaire. You're right as I noticed that about the second one as there isn't as much stuff going on around it.

What I do like about both settings is how the band becomes thicker towards the centre, unlike my solitaire which is straight across. I think it looks great with a thin band that's straight across as the rings look separate and distinct.

I think I figured it out. I want a setting with less diamonds above and below the main diamond, so it still highlights it but doesn't take away from it.

This is a beautiful inspiration setting. Who makes it?

York Girl, The look you are going for is gorgeous. I don't think any of these rings look like you are trying to trick anyone. They are beautiful. I would love any of them paired with the eternity ring you pictured. So delicate and beautiful together. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the above settings. The first one posted is actually my favorite. I can't wait to see what you decide.

Ah ok, I think I misunderstood your first post a little, I thought the second pic was just to show how you would like it to look with a band - yes, the difference between the settings is that in the second one the diamond stands out more on its own - beverley k carries some rings resembling the style you posted, here's one I found, just taking a quick look -

I think the first setting is absolutely beautiful! If it is too bling, you can change up the heads a little - get rid of the fish tail prongs and make a very small halo instead. The sides are to die for!

I managed to find some close up shots. I loved the first one too. I'd probably ask Single Stone to make the bottom part open so it wasn't so closed and unable to clean. The prongs are interesting, they're not fish tail prongs but tab I think? My golly is it ever a lovely setting. I don't like the prongs and how they cover the diamond corners. Any suggestions how to modify the setting so the halo looks more delicate? I don't like modern halos...but prefer more antique style with clusters and metal. What kind of prongs should I do?

I LOVE this ring from Lang's. Perhaps prongs like these - where they are integrated into the overall ring design/structure - would be nice. I like this style prongs because it's an overall continuous look.

I really like the first setting and I don't think it swamps the stone at all.
