I am still waiting to find out where the inclusions are located and if they are obviously visible with the naked eye, but that aside, I would love to hear some opinons on this ring. I am still familiarizing myself with depth/table/ and dimensions, so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Shape: Round
Weight: 3.71
Cut: Ideal
Color: G
Clarity: SI2
Certification: EGLUSA
Depth %: 63.5
Table %: 54
Symmetry: Very Good
Polish: Excellent
Girdle Thickness: Thin To Medium
Culet Size: None
Fluorescence Color: -
Dimensions (in mm): 9.76x9.71x6.18

Hi Welcome to Pricescope.
We need the crown and pavilion numbers of the certificate. It looks a a little deep though.

ditto, it does look a little deep.

Ditto the other ladies, it appears that this diamond will look small for it's weight also, but it depends on what you want - the best cut you can find, or a larger diamond for the budget with a lesser cut, but if you can post the crown and pavilion percents, then we can advise you better on the performance. Personally I would pass on this one due to the depth alone and because it will look light on weight anyway with the info given, also do you know if it is eyeclean? It may not be as it is a large diamond and SI2 clarity, so you would need to check.

I hope I got these numbers right:

crown: 17.2%
pavillion: 42.4%

So, when a diamond is considered too deep, does that basically mean light is going out the bottom of the diamond rather then coming out the top? Also, will there be any sparkle to it, or does that mean the diamond will be flat and lifeless? Thank you everyone!

Actually now we have those figures, this diamond appears to be within fiery ideal cut range ( FIC) which means it could lend itself to a nice display of fire/ coloured light if the conditions were right. The trade off with these types of diamond can be that they can look a bit smaller due to the increased depth you often find with these ( as above) but it depends on you - it could be a nice performer, but this diamond may not look as big as it could do for it''s weight face up.

If you want to investigate further, I would ask for detailed pics of this diamond, check very carefully if it is eyeclean to your standards and also ask for an Idealscope image, as that would be very useful to give a meaningful opinion on this diamond.

Hi Lorelei! I''m trying to focus more on cut, so the ring has a lot of fire and brilliance. After spending hours last night looking at all the hearts and arrows on this site I''m trying to focus on quality and while I''d like to find something just under 4 cts. I would also be okay with a round brilliant around 3cts. I''m trying to understand how all the numbers come together and affect the life of the diamond. Math was never my best subject, that''s probably why I''m having a hard time with it. lol

Hi Sarah!

I understand, it is a lot to take in! Actually although this diamond is a bit deeper than is often preferred here ( 60 - 62%) it could be a nice stone by the look of it, and if you are ok with this diamond not looking quite as large as it could, it could be a contender if you understand the trade offs you are making with size versus weight etc. The next step would be to check if it is eyeclean to your standards, as there is a chance it may not be, then everything hinges on that anyway. If you like, give us an idea of budget etc, we could see if we could find some more diamonds you might like?

That will be appx 40.3 PA and 36.8 CA. Definitely in the fiery range.

Based on broad numbers it''s possibly an AGS1 in light performance. GIA gives it VG, but are not very partial to shallow pavilions. Be aware of obstruction (head shadow); the PA is shallow enough that it could suffer from darkness if you bring your head to a close viewing distance. It would be good to know the minor facet measurements, especially the lower half %, which play a large role in such diamonds. Also nice to see an ideal-scope or ASET image; not just to check out performance, but to see its level of cut precision/consistency.
