Will this James Allen setting look delicate in real life?

hmmm, it''ll be at least 2.7mm wide where the diamonds are. Have you looked around or tried on any settings that has about 7 pointers on sidestones? maybe try some this weekend look at some anniversary bands, usually they''ll have something near those sizes and put your stone up next to it, it''ll give you an idea, if there''s not an already preset diamond ring with close to those size sidestones.

I have the Facets Duo set that is the same type of setting (same width and same # of stones) but with 10 pointers in the ering and wedding band. My center is 1.73 and it''s a great combo..

I agree with D&T - go to a jewlery store and try on some settings of similar proportions!

I know that is may sound dumb. But what exactly is a pointer .10 ct? I went to a store today and each of the tiny stones were .07 pointers?

So if that James Allen stone has 7 pointers each stone on the e-ring would be a little over one pointer? The .07 pointer ones were VERY small, so I can''t imagine the ones that are a little bigger than 1 pointer making even my one carat stone look too small?

pointers also refer to carat size, so for 1 pointer = .01 carat, 2 pointer = .02 carat and so on, the setting you are interested in, has six stones totalling about .40 ctw divide that by the number of stones gives you what the stone carat size is roughly. Hope that helps.

Impatient One,

I looked for a thread on YOUR set and found one. I love it! :)

Thanks D and T!

Ok, let me give this a shot...if I'm not mistaken, the total carat wieght for all 6 stones in the ering is .40 carats (which is the same as 40 points). So, if you divide 6 into .40, then each diamond in the ering is .066 points, which is between a 6 point and 7 point size. So they would look pretty much like the 7 point diamond you saw in the store. Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong!

ETA: D+T, you beat me to it!!

If I do get this setting should I send my old ring to James Allen to have them reset the stone or should I bring it to a local jeweler?
