Will the difference in size be noticeable?

Do you guys think going from a 8.10 to a 7.50 diameter stone will be noticeable? The new stone will be a much higher quality, if that makes a difference in size perception.

Yeah, .6mm is going to be pretty noticeable IMO.

Although you can try to "make up" the difference depending on you you set it, for example, nicely done bezels or illusion settings make a stone look bigger.

Okay, thanks. I''m keeping the setting as the idea is to not hurt my fiance''s feelings by telling him about the switch ..... sounds like that might not be possible.

Yes. The larger stone would be a GIA "good." The smaller stone is excellent. Anyone have a guess as to how large I would have to go to get away with a switch?

The size will definitely be noticeable. I went up a 1/2 mm and it was noticeable to me, but probably not to everyone else. I did find that I got more compliments with the upgrade, so people just seemed to "notice" my ring more. Good Luck with your search.

Honestly, your husband may not notice - most guys don''t notice slight changes in jewelry - he''d probably notice if you changed diamond shapes, but that''s about it - depends how observant your guy is.

You, however, will definitely notice a size difference. I traded up in size and could definitely tell the difference, but people around me didn''t really notice.

Don''t make the change behind his back if you know he''s not going to like it and hope that he won''t notice.

I wouldn''t lie, or ommit. And I can tell you my husband would notice. He''s very proud of the diamond he bought me, and rightly so. He put a lot of time and effort into it, and I wouldnt'' reward that by misleading him.

64% depth huh. And the inclusions looked like flour. Yikes.

Okay so... it is gonna look smaller but man I''d rather have a smaller bight shining star on my finger than a dead deep included rock. Yes, it will be smaller, but a well cut stone can make up for a lot in size difference.

I would still tell hubby about the switch. He might suprise you and just be happy that you are getting something nice. Genuinely. Give the guy the benefit of the the doubt. Diamond shopping is not for the faint of heart.
