Will my stone fit this setting?

Hello,
I have a 7mm square (5.8mm deep) cut corner montana sapphire that I want a halo setting for. I found one on loupe troop, the description is as follows :

C Gonshor 18k white gold , 1.07 ctw diamonds G VS1. These diamonds are excellent cut hearts & arrows quality diamonds which I tried to show on the photos with my LED 10x loupe. This is currently set with a 7.5mm Wink cushion cz. (It was originally set with a 6.8 x 7mm diamond so you have a little lee-way with the center stone- can also set a round). This was worn briefly with a diamond center and then it was refurbished by Winks bench when the CZ was set so it looks good as new! Size 6.5 & sizeable. Purchase price $2880 + tax. Listing for $1500 obo + shipping.

I have also attached a photo of my stone. Can anyone tell me if my stone will definitely fit or not fit in this setting? I do not really want to have to make any major changes to the setting.

Also, is there any other reason anyone would recommend against this setting? I haven't heard back from the seller yet, but I value all of your expert opinions!

well thats a bummer! I don't have a set budget but I know you can usually get great deals on pre-loved items so I was hoping to save a little money. All the other settings I have been looking at range from 2500-3600 (that would be for maytal hannah). Those settings you posted are pretty but have more of an antique look than I am looking for. I am looking for something more like the style of VC emilya or maytal hannah. Ideally I would like a halo that is is cushion or octagonal shaped, and I don't want much metal to show, just something sleek and thin with diamonds.

Thank you!!! I have heard good things about ERD. I wish they had real life photos because sometimes it seems like stock photos lack life and sparkle. I love how VC has videos for his rings. I'm sure I could find a pic of this if I searched though.

You will find a TON of ERD halo settings on PS. They are very popular for the style. And they do a nice job. Go on Show Me the Bling Forum and do a search there.

That is great to hear that you have seen it personally, makes me feel so much better about ordering something online! I am very excited (and antsy). As soon as I get the ring I assure you I will post many pictures

I would think it would fit, provided you don't mind a slight mismatch in shape (square stone in a cushion-y halo.) Or having the stone over lap the halo stones and/or sit up a bit higher in the prongs.

Yours is a 7mm square and the seller says the current stone is a "7.5mm Wink cushion cz." So, I'd expect that you stone is no deeper or wider than the cz that is in there now. Or maybe i just overlooked something when I read the dimensions?

Yeah - based on the numbers, I also would have thought your Sapphire would fit - if you're still interested in that halo ring, I'd suggest calling/emailing Wink for his opinion, since his bench had worked on the ring and had set the CZ, and make sure to also specifically ask if the ring will accommodate the depth of your Sapphire.

Ok so I heard back and the only uncertainty is the depth. The diamond that was previously in the setting was 4.64mm, we are trying to find out the depth of the current cz. Anyone know how much leeway you have with the depth in a setting?

Did you talk with Wink? The CZ in there already is a 7.5mm Wink CZ and, whether standard or custom-cut, I would think Wink should have the depth measurement already...

In case anyone is curious, ultimately Gypsy was right (Of course! ) and the stone will not fit this setting. I am currently working with ERD to make something that I think will be amazing!
