Hi,

I just bought a ring online and it was delivered to my doorstep. However, I realised that I got the sizing wrong. Will it be possible to resize this setting with side diamonds from a US 9 to a US 5? Is it possible to resize down by 4 sizes? Help needed!

I'm not an expert, but I don't think it would be a good idea to resize your ring that much, especially with the side stones - I've read here on PS the setting might be altered and cause the stones to become loose - I would return the ring and get the correct size.

Sorry, but I would not do it. Sizing up or down that many sizes will change the pitch/curve of the ring, which will affect your small diamonds running down the side of your shank. Return it and get it in the correct size from the beginning.

sounds like too many sizes down. Can you reorder?

Sorry I think that is too many sizes (almost half the ring) and especially with the side stones I don't think it will work. Can you exchange or return?

Nearly anything is possible but I agree with the above that this looks like a production piece for someone and you'll be better off having them make one in the right size if it's an option open to you. 4 sizes is quite a bit. Talk to the seller about it.

I agree with all the other posters that it's just too large of a size difference. I recently posed a similar question to jeweler that posts here on PS and he felt that 1/2 a size smaller could be done, but felt better about recommending sizing balls, and that was for 1/2 size smaller, I think that you would have a difficult time finding a reputable jeweler willing to go down 4 sizes.

Hi all, thank you for your replies on resizing my ring. I have spoken to the seller and they have agreed for me to send back the setting without the center stone and they will re-create a new setting of size band US5 for me. My question now is, will the new setting be as accurate without the center stone? They do have the records of my diamond as I purchased it from them altogether. Lastly, will it be easy to get a jeweler to mount the diamond for me locally after receiving the setting?

The reason for returning it without the center stone is due to custom tax and I don't feel secured shipping the entire ring back and fro. I live in Singapore and my seller resides in the United States.

Maybe, you want to consider getting a local jeweller for the setting to be done?

Your original seller should be able to provide you an accurately sized ring, with or without the center stone. This is the time for you to verify that you have the correct ring size, by the way!
