I want to get my girlfriend an ideal cut diamond in the 0.8 carat range. I''ve looked as low as G in clarity and although I''m guessing it will look fine I''m hoping someone can give me there opinion. Will the diamond look yellow when set in platinum?

I personally think that if you do indeed get an ideal cut diamond, G color is not going to be "Yellow"!

There are definately different shades of white or creme ... but an ideal cut RB should not appear Yellow.

Have you checked out the threads with I, J & K colored diamonds in Plat? It's pretty amazing how white these diamonds face up.

As far as clarity goes, SI1 it typically the lowest I would generally go, HOWEVER ... with the right trusted vendor and his amazing eyes ... there have been some very surprizing eye clean SI2's out there.

No, G will not look yellow. It is at the top of the near colorless range.

My "I" diamond looks white in plt so I am sure your "G" will look very white in plt.

No problem whatsoever with a G in platinum!

Thanks for the opinions, that puts my mind at ease.

NO WAY!!!!!!!

Hi! I have some G''S in platinum and some others in white gold and they don''t look at all yellow.

Nope!

Not at all!

I''m very color sensitive and I will soon have a G in platinum! For a couple days I compared it to a comparably cut E that I''m returning for clarity reasons, and I could see a difference between the two, but I wouldn''t necessarily characterize that difference as the G looking "yellower." It was more like the E looked a "brighter" shade of white? Hard to explain. The difference was marginal. I did like the E better if color was the only thing that mattered, but given all the trade offs and considerations with regard to size and clarity, the G won out!
