I'm currently looking for an engagement ring for my significant other, and think I have found the right rock. I can also buy with some assurance because it's certified and I've seen the rock myself I really like it. Now comes the setting bit.

I quite like the De Beers or Cartier 1895 setting, but don't feel quite right asking the jeweler to "copy" the design. I wonder if de beers or cartier have a service where they would charge me for setting the rock that I bring to them, certificate an all. Or will such faux pax see me escorted off the premises immediately.

Little voice in my head says no chance but it's worth asking?

I am pretty sure both DeBeers and Cartier only sell finished rings. However there are many similar solitaires to the Cartier 1895...the Trueste by Victor Canera comes to mind

I can't speak to DeBeers or Cartier, but I know Henry Winston sells only finished rings, as well...

I've asked that question at every brand name retailer. The answer is a no. Always.

Only certain jewelers will set your stone for you, and none of them are branded boutiques - they would have to be craftsmen or places that advertise customisation or custom pieces.
