will an isee2 dealer let me...?

hi everyone,

finding a diamond that scores highly on isee2 is by no means essential to me; i want to find a stone that my future fiance will be happy with. however, from what i''ve seen, the stones that score well on isee2 are, indeed, very nice diamonds.

if i bought a stone from an internet site, would an isee2 dealer let me run that stone through their machine just to see how it scores (especially if i buttered him up, saying things like "can i see how much better your stones do than mine to see if its worth the difference?"). also, i would not just be showing up there to test my stone...i will likely be getting an appraisal there, getting them to do a custom setting, and having it set there, too. think they''d let me?

Especially if your intention is to have a custom setting there, and give this jeweler a solid piece of your business, I think this is a good idea to pursue. Generally, I very much support this idea, independent of their possible involvement as an appraiser, which is at least more controversial, potentially. If you''ll forgive my thick writing style, some of those ideas were talked about in this thread, too. Despite the traditional work up people are encouraged to follow here, and without having to commit to making a purchase at GOG (and I have no idea what his personal policies are), it seems to me that a combination of his own assessment abilities, and his tools at his shop would make he and his shop (with both ISEE and Brilliancescope) a formidable "assessment" competitor to any appraiser here.

Just to run with your example, that is. I''m sure it would be helpful to also get the particular assessment of an ISEE from any shop that has one.
