Hi,

I''m debating on buying a semi-eternity wedding band but hate the fact it will spin. Would you know if a euro shank will prevent it from spinning???

Would it look weird if my e-ring doesn''t have a euro-shank?

Also, if I get a shared-prong semi-eternity band with a euro shank, will it prevent the diamonds in the w-band from scratching the prongs of my e-ring???

FYI my e-ring is a radiant in an x-prong setting.

TIA!!!

That''s what it''s designed for

Not sure about look, but feel may bother you, i know it would''ve bother me

I dont think so, it''s not about amplitude more about frequency of motions

My e-ring stone was in a solitaire w/ a euro shank for a while. It did not prevent it from spinning, it just didn''t spin quite as far down my finger. I wore it w/ my eternity band which did not have a euro shank and the two felt fine together. I didn''t notice the difference.

I do not think the euro shank by itself will prevent the diamonds in the w-band from scratching the e-ring. You would need the bottom of the shank -- whether it is a euro or plain rounded shank - to be wider than the diamonds itself in order to prevent the scratching.

I believe FireGoddess had her shared prong setting made with the bottom a little wider than the diamonds. Let me see if I can dig up her thread.

We tell the customer that if the diamond was not so top heavy it would not spin and she should get a smaller diamond !

Ok, well that does not work, but you talk about euro shanks ! Cool look, you can have that done to cut down on the spin. You can also knotch the sides (kind of cut out a half moon /thin slice out of the side of the shank so your fingers feel more comfortable and are locking into the ring as well.

Weird ? Its what pleases you. If you think it looks ok then go for it. Dont let approval addiction drive your desision on how your ring should look.

If you have approval addition then never get a tattoo! I found out that most people over 60 have a real problem with them :) I just had Chris Garver off of the TV show Miami Ink do one for me. I get mixed review from clients, but who cares :)

Thanks for all the responses!

Hmm I don''t think the euro-shank will work for me if it won''t prevent the diamonds to scratch my prongs.

Iceman -I''ve watched a few of the early Miami Ink shows...Chris Garver is sooo talented!!! You''re so lucky to have gotten a tattoo done by him! My FI and I both have tattoos (his is the word ''Tiger'' in Chinese characters on his upper arm...it''s his Chinese horoscope and mine is a sunburst-type design on my lower back). I kind of regret getting mine...wish I picked something that meant something important to me.
