I am looking to buy a flat platinum wedding band from Eweddingbands.com, but I'm unsure which width to get. My ering is supposed to be 2.5mm, but according to my calipers, it rangers from 2.0 to 2.3mm. Do you think I should get a 2 or 2.5 mm plain flat wedding band to wear with it on day's I'd like a simpler look?

I wish I had more pics to post right now, but they are not on my iPad. Below is a pic of my ering and my ering with my diamond band (my diamond band was reported to be 4mm, but according to my calipers, it is 4.5mm)

I appreciate your advice! Also if anyone has either a 2mm or 2.5mm flat wedding band (pipe cut?) they could post, I'd love to see it!!!!

lewood-just fyi, e-wedding bands can make a custom width band if that is what you prefer. I had them make me a 2.2 mm band.

I think slg47 has a good suggestion. But if you have to pick one or the other, I would go with the 2mm over the 2.5mm.

Thanks for the customization suggestion. It was something I considered, but the no return policy on custom orders makes me nervous.

I should have added a poll, but I'm not sure how to now. Is it too late?

I'm not sure if it's too late to add the poll or not, but I''ll tell you my vote :)) I'd go for the 2.5. I have a 2mm pave shank on my ering and it's very very dainty. I have been looking at the matching band and comparing it to other eternities and I think that I prefer the look of a band that's just a tiny bit larger. I wish that I had taken photos :(sad but everytime I every time I try the matching band on it seems to blend and get lost in my ering. Of course I have a pave shank and not a plain one so it could be different for you.

Thanks for your input, Christina! Does anyone else want to weigh in on which would look better with my e-ring---2 or 2.5 mm?

eweddingbands has a great exchange/return policy - why not try out the one you think you are leaning to. if it's not exactly as you'd hoped, exchange it for the other size? just take good care of it and don't wear it while doing anything that could cause wear, of course. i was torn myself and ordered a 1.5mm from them, which ended up being too small. i exchanged it for a 2mm no problem, and it was perfect! if you try the 2mm and it's too thin, and you try the 2.5mm and it's too thick, then maybe you can consider a custom width with more confidence. lol, that would truly be your goldilocks band!

now, considering your diamond band is wide compared to your ering, and that is the look you are used to, i am thinking you might prefer the 2.5mm width. 2mm might look shockingly thin/diminutive compared to what you are used to wearing with your ering already. also, when i had a 2mm solitaire band with a 1ct princess, a 2.5mm plain band was perfect paired with it *for me*. 2mm was too thin, 3mm too thick and it took away from the diamond.

good luck! it's crazy how millimeters and half millimeters can make such a difference, but they do!

That's good advice! Thanks! Yes, it is crazy how 1/2 mm can make a big difference!

I really do love my diamond band, but sometimes I feel it is too thick or too much with my e-ring- I know it overpowers it, but the band had great meaning to me, so it just had to be my wedding band. I realllllly want my diamond to take centerstage.

I've read that a flat band looks wider than a domed band (or overall it just appears wider in general)? Would a 2.5 look more like a 3 mm domed band, in which case, would a 2 mm flat band look like a 2.5 mm domed band?

In the end, the only way to see is to order and try it out, but I don't want to drive my husband nuts. If anyone has any pictures to share, I'd love to see them!

Can you go to a local store and try out a few in person to see what you prefer? If not, I would order a few different widths/styles, keep the one that works, and send back the rest. The shipping charge would be worth it to me to know that was able to compare my options.
