First of all, thanks for all the comments on the diamonds questions I've had, I believe I am very close to choosing the stone, narrowed down to a couple now.

Now...here is where the work begins, first let me explain that I lost my ER in NY last month after taking a bad fall in Times Square. The saddest part (besides my broken hand) is that the setting was "new" to me, I just found it at a local store last July, and it had been a part of their inventory since 2000(!)...so we just found out A.Jaffe will make it, but will charge $3000 to make it! I assume that it's because it's not a currently available style and they will have to remake the mold? Of course, this is the price at the A.Jaffe authorized local dealer, do you know if there are any online authorized dealers?

Anywho, now I think I will be on the search for a new setting, I don't think I want to pay $3000 for a 18K/Platinum band (no diamonds) even if I did really like it.

Is there anybody here who would like to share wide shank rings with me? I do have a .50 princess channel set gold wedding band, but I don't mind if it fits flush or not. For a 2.25 carat diamond.

two-tone would be great, or something that can be made in yellow gold with white or platinum accent? I know it's a tall order, but where else in the world might I find something like that but here??? I may have to do something custom, I'll try to figure out how to post a pic of my lost one. A.Jaffe sent one to me, with a smaller sample diamond.
Thank you for your comments!

here's the photo, hope this works.

I think $3000 sounds high for that ring. You might try a quote from Caysie van Bebber or David Klass.

You can find them on facebook at CVB Inspired Design and David Klass Jewelry.

I agree, it is too high...but there are a lot of elements that the photo doesn't show, I have a few pics I took, might help...it was rather heavy, comfort fit, but not quite as heavy as a wide shank comfort fit because the sides were a bit lower.
I might just have to start from scratch and find something else, but thank you, I'll give it some thought.

You may get lots of new ideas if you look through threads in the Show Me the Bling part of the forum! The two tone part may be hard to find, though, unless you have one custom made. Sorry to hear about your fall and hope your hand will be healed soon!

Tiffany's Lucinda band comes in platinum with rose gold - it goes for just over $1600. Perhaps a good jeweler could modify it to add a head?

ETA it looks like you can also get it in yellow gold - and in different widths, with the price varying accordingly. The 6mm ring is about $1800:

@baroque - I am in a similar situation. I lost my e-ring over the holidays (no broken bones...ouch!), and have been hunting for a replacement, too. I was looking at some A.Jafee rings, particularly the MES300, although not identical to my lost ring it is closest I have been able to find. I found TKDiamonds.com to have the largest selection and best prices, and they are an elite A. Jafee authorized dealer. I contacted them and spoke to Ted and he was very helpful in trying to see if A.Jafee could re-create my original ring or modify an existing style to meet my needs. If you are not set on having platinum, they list different metal option and pricing on their site.

I am leaning towards having my ring custom created in platinum. Ballpark pricing I have received for a 6-8mm wide, 12-15g platinum 950/iridium band, $2200-$2300.

Hope some of this is helpful. If you let me know your price range, maybe I can share some of the rings I have found.

IMHO, two-tone is not a very current look so that's why you might be having difficulty finding it. How about something like this from Gabriel?

Hi Baby monster...I couldn't get the link to work...I know that two tone is not contemporary...but dealing with a gold Wedding band makes it tough...

Hi VRBeauty, This one has potential. the cool thing about the a.jaffe one is that the head sat between the platinum, platinum part stopping right before the head, so it had almost a cathedral type look, well, not to that extreme, but helped it look like it wasn't just a band with a head added...make sense? it's possible that this could be an option though. I may check with my Tiffany's here to see if they carry it.
Thanks!

hi sweet_jane, sorry for your loss, too! ugh! I would think that I should be able to get a setting under $2500.00, but I don't know. It's not so much of a price range as the fact that it seems very high for what it is, make sense? I would love to see what you have found.

I would try looking through some of the more traditional stock setting manufacturers catalogs -- maybe stuller would have something like this? also have you considered doing 2-tone by having the band in YG with plat or WG prongs (or bezel or half bezel)? that should be easier to find. i'm so sorry to hear about your ring, and your hand!! good luck!

@baroque - I found a site that had a lot of two-tone ring options, but they do not list their pricing. http://www.barkevs.com
Not sure if any of these rings/styles strikes your fancy, but I thought I would share.
