Just saw this (with Neatfreak, actually) a week ago, and I'm still over the moon about it.

I have to say, I haven't enjoyed a show more. If you haven't seen it... GO! Especially right now in San Francisco the two actors that play the two leads are just... phenomenal.

I want to go again. It just knocked my socks off!

I just saw Wicked in London, and I loved it, too: given that I made the mistake of sitting in the Dress Circle (internet told me this meant "balcony," did not mention it was "second balcony up" and thus, "nosebleed section"), I, too would love to see it again. The story is great, the songs were lovely, but the visual spectacle was AMAZING. Does anybody know, are all of the productions identical?

Ooh I saw it too! It's amazing!! I also loved the book.

I love Wicked too. I see it whenever it comes to Philadelphia. "Defying Gravity" is such a powerful song.

I've seen it three times. Once in New York and twice in San Diego at our small theatre. I was stunned to prefer the local set and ensemble. I could watch it over and over and over again.

I've heard the book is so different that I decided against reading it at all. Have any of you read the book?

I read it Miracles, before I saw the show. I LOVED the book, but like the show it has strong political, social and ethical undertones and is, of course, heavier and darker than its musical representation. I found it compelling and very well written. I would recommend it!

Same feelings. The Wizard of Oz itself is a fascinating social and political commentary. I certainly didn't appreciate that as a child!

Okay, you've both convinced me. I will borrow my daughter's copy and give it a go. I find it endlessly fascinating that an individual could write such an engaging back story to an old classic. It still bewilders me....that level of creative genius.

Yes it's amazing what people can create. Enjoy it Miracles!

I read the book and didn't enjoy it, but I am a fan of musicals. I wonder if I'd like it....

I watched half of it again on You tube last night. Crappy bootleg, but it was good enough to bring back some of the memories. All it made me want to do it watch it again in real life though.

Think I'm going to put that on my list for my birthday. Go to see Wicked again.

Miracles, I've hear mixed reviews about the book. A lot of people told me it's too real and ruins the plays for them. Let me know what you think, we're usually on the same wavelength so I value your opinion.

Defying gravity is a great song. The best in the show, I think.

Sabine, I'd be SHOCKED if you didn't like it on stage. Especially given how close you an Robbie are. It's fabulous.

I'm a huge Wizard of Oz fan, and by default, a huge Wicked fan after reading the first book. I saw the show in Chicago after reading the book (the first one of the series by G. Maguire) and thought it was fabulous and very close to the book, but NOT the story of the original L. Frank Baum stories! I think the musical is wonderful in and of itself, and an absolute pleasure to view whether you've read the book or not.

I loved the play! I saw it a couple of months ago and it was fantastic. I love the book, too. I'd highly recommend it for anyone who loved
the play. It's been years since I've read it but I agree with Porridge's assessment! The sequels were good too but not nearly as good as the first, in my opinion.

I love Wicked! I've seen it four times, NY, Atlanta, Greenville, and London. I'm a wee bit obsessed and see it whenever it's within range. :appl:

I wasn't into plays at all before my beautiful fiancee took me to see Wicked in the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta. I enjoyed it so much that I had to download the soundtrack right after and we went again in Greenville. I wish I could go see it again. Totally awesome play.

This is one of my favorite musical!!! Wicked is an amazing show!!! Everyone should see it at least once!!
