Why the price difference?

Hello Helpful PSers!

Narrowing down my search day by day... I''ve found two diamonds at James Allen that seem pretty similar yet I can''t figure out why one is costing over $1000 more than the other. I''m going to list all the specs and the prices. Hopefully you can tell me what I''m missing. Both are ideal RB''s.

Diamond 1:
AGS
2.01 ct
8.26 x 8.28 x 4.95
I color
SI1 (verified eye clean by Josh at JA)
Depth: 59.9%
Table: 56%
Polish & Symmetry: Ideal
Crown: 33.8
Pavillion: 40.8
HCA Score: 0.7
Girdle: Thin to Medium
Cutlet: None
Flourescence: Negligible
Price: $15,880 (or $15,000 after PS Discount)

Diamond 2:
GIA
2.01
8.14 x 8.18 x 4.95
I color
VS2
Depth: 60.7%
Table: 56%
Polish & Symmetry: Excellent
Crown: 35.5
Pavillion: 40.4
HCA Score: 0.6
Girdle:Thin
Cutlet: None
Flourescence: None
Price: $17,110 (or $16,160 after PS Discount)

The only difference I''m seeing is clarity and it''s from an eye clean SI1 to a VS2. Is there something else? I feel like #1 is a much better deal, but if I''m wrong, somebody please let me know. Thanks so much!

Liz

I think it is probably the clarity grade which accounts for the price difference, they both look good!

Ditto what L said. However, I personally have a slight difference for the cut specs of number two. However, both should be lovely. You might want to ask the folks at jamesallen to look at both of them and say which they prefer in person.

I''m a little confused by your post. Are you saying #2 looks slightly better or worse?

Josh at JA said #1 looks about as close to H&A as you can get without the official grading.

Does one category up in clarity usually mean that much of a price difference?

Thanks!

If Josh eyeballed them an #1 looks the best and it''s cheaper, then go for it!! They both are probably lovely and it''s hard to pick one out for sure without seeing images and ideal scope images, etc.

Clarity grades could easily account for that price difference.
