I was shopping at james and found this. the channel rings along sometimes go for much more than this set so I'm confused

Is this a super good deal? 2 rings for $1050

Does the engagement setting look great for someone on a budget?

And would you pair it with a 0.9 Carat Round?

YES! It's a fantastic deal! and yes, I'd put any sized round in it.

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

I'm guessing you bought it?

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

Hi icenoob,

I think the set was mispriced, given it was less than half the price of the two rings priced separately and $1200 less expensive than the identical set in yellow gold.

It has been temporarily deactivated while we research the problem, but should be back on the website in a day or two.

All the best,

It was a channel ring + channel wedding band combo for $1050 :(

they appeared nice looking too. now there's nothing similar up there.

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

Oh, sorry, it seems that the deal is expert, while, still thought a brand one would be great, cheap one can not always out us at ease, then it is better to not concern the cheap one on precious items. :))

Seems it was a pricing error-- this has happened before.

What are you looking for style-wise and what is your budget?

Anybody care to translate this?

If you were comfortable with a solitaire and a diamond w band I found a ritani that is really REALLY fairly priced. I was surprised how cheap such a well made brand name is. Split claw prongs too! And white flash sells ritani
http://www.ritani.com/engagement-rings/tulip-airline-solitaire-engagement-ring-in-14kt-white-gold/5336

That's in 14k but even the 18k is under 550.

Then you can get a really nice white flash band

And for your first purchase you get 75$ off

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

I think that this would be the perfect opportunity for the vendor to either make good on the online typo , or make you an offer you can't refuse......

thank you, this is really impressive and at a great price. I had some Diamonds picked out at Jamesallen, but may move over to these guys now. Price error or not, I had compared that ring and price and was really settled on it before it got yanked and their leftovers do seem expensive compared to Whiteflash.

yeah I didn't even read your post and see my above one. I was already down the train of thought of switching over to Whiteflash because of this. I understand its a price error, but its the style I wanted in a reasonable price bracket. Now, knowing that they know I want it, they can raise it to whatever they want. Maybe they won't do that, but there's already interest proven in it, so it feels a bit unfair to repost it at a much higher price when the WhiteFlash equivalents are also very cheap.

If I go with WhiteFlash I can tell you I'd be recommending local friends to them as well, has a ripple effect. I'd like to go with Jamesallen due to their customer support and have 3 diamonds on hold, just about to buy after I see IdealScopes, but this particular experience (and the set is still offline) isn't very positive.

Bottom line is, if I choose the ring/band at Whiteflash, I will choose the Diamond as well at Whiteflash and cancel my order process with Jamesallen.

If whiteflash doesn't have the stone you like good old gold sells ritAni too. I don't know how low in color but there's a really nice stone at good old gold that's low in color so its a good deal. You could still get a band from whiteflash

Its a shame I like companies that honor there errors

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

ooo I like the Ritani setting - I just emailed whiteflash about maybe resetting my asscher into it. :)

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

Me too, Neilseel. BTW, I changed my pear, which is in a similar setting as yours, into a necklace and it really sparkles in that position!!!!!

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

You have to honor your errors if you expect repeat business, or for your business to have a sense of legitimacy. This is how someone quickly earns a bad reputation.

I run a business and I always honor an error brought to my attention by that customer. If it's my mistake, why shouldn't I be held accountable? It's bad business practice if your customers can't rely on what you state on your own website/advertising. Why should they rely on you for anything else? Hopefully JA has contacted icenoob directly to provide the published pricing advertised on their website.

JA should make this right for you - it's their fault, not yours!

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

I think that most people reading this would agree. so, JA, are you ready for the do whats right challenge?

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

I can understand selling a customer a can of corn for the incorrect price of 59 cents, instead of the correct price of 79 cents, but not when a product costs hundreds or thousands of dollars.

... and I think it's not cool to use the Internet to bully a vendor into doing YOUR interpretation of what's 'right'.
I think it's fine to bring up an issue, but then the vendor can respond as (s)he sees fit.

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

No bullying intended. I have just read a few threads about this sort of thing happening, and I think that ANY vendor should give the customer a fair break, especially if they had their hearts set on the item.

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

Why would you be fine with honoring the price on a can of corn vs. a higher ticket item? If you sell high-priced items, you don't need to adhere to the same set of rules/ethics as someone selling lower-priced items? With higher returns per sale, there are also higher risks - this being one of them.

The principle remains consistent. This is basic business - not a nuanced concept.

Incidentally, I do not sell diamonds, but do sell items that cost upwards of $10k. When I make a mistake, whether it be 5 cents or $2,000 (has happened before), I honor it, because I want my customers to know that I stand by what I do - mistakes and all. This is when you look at who made the mistake on the business' side and deal with it internally. The customer should see none of this.

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

It seems like it was a significant error though. It would be gracious of them to offer a discount (and a wise choice if they want to sell the diamonds that the O/P was considering) but I think it is unfair to expect them to take a loss of that magnitude. My house was listed in the thousands instead of hundreds of thousands. I should have given it away? Mistakes happen.

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

Well said, Rocky!

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

A nice discount would be expected.....It is just good business practice.

That's funny, I noticed my pear sparkles most at a vertical position. Very strange, I'm setting it as a necklace in a few weeks.

And as for the post, remember when WF the issue where some of there diamonds were underpriced and they honored that, and people on here were just snatching them up? I don't expext him to sell something for a dollar if it should be a million, but I like when companies try and honor the price the person expected by at least making an effort to discount or something. But that's if he had actually purchased it. If he was just considering it and habmt conveyed to JA he wanted it, its a bit different

This.

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

I don't think it's reasonable to expect JA to sell at the pricing error price or even to offer a discount. It was clearly an error. I mean it was priced so low that you felt the need to start a thread about how cheap it was!

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

Hi icenoob,

I'm a little late getting back to this thread, but we would love to have you as a customer. I don't have your contact information, but suggest we take this conversation offline and see if we can work something out. Just ask a CSR to get me your information and we'll go from there.

All the best,

No, it wouldn't be expected. I would never think that I should get a discount because someone mistakenly marked a price wrong, in a brick and mortar store or online. Just because someone would like a discount doesn't mean it's expected.

Re: why is this engagement + wedding set so cheap? good dea

See, JA is coming to the rescue! ( or at least attempting to)!
