But I can''t find the rings!??!?!!! If you are only going to sell them in the store, why bother showing the picture?

A similar rnig is found under Tiffany Legend / Legacy at http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?subCategoryid=1004

But this is not a colored stone.

Yes, that''s the engagement Legacy ring. That has always been on the site (you can do a search here to see how many of us have drooled over it haha).

If you go to one of their stores you''ll find that a TON of the stuff is not available online. I think they mention somewhere on their website that only a selection is available online...

i read that all wrong.

That''s frustrating because of course the bigger store in NYC (and another one just opened on Wallstreet!!)has more than say the one closest to me. Oddly, I couldn''t find the diamond and pink sapphire Legacy wedding band in NYC but it''s always online. In fact, the sales woman I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about and left me with the impression that they don''t sell it at all! They really should stop teasing us with pictures of things we can''t buy from the comfort of our home!

hehe, it''s annoying certainly, but for someone with a big retail presence they want to make sure that you still go into their stores...thus probably why they don''t offer everything online. Also, if you notice they don''t offer engagement rings online either...just one stock picture of each because they vary so much it would be a PITA for Tiffany''s to try and put them up with all the prices, etc. It is a shame though because they have such gorgeous stuff in stores only!!!

you can still call any store and order it over the phone. there are plenty of vendors here who have pictures up of stuff you can''t order directly online, you have to call or email them. Not really a huge deal to me.

Hey neatfreak, you're right, it's a great way to get a person in the store. However, prior to going to NYC I had no idea the Legacy came with anything other than a diamond. I would have considered trying to get one years ago! And at least with the engagement rings you get to see multiple pics and get the starting price.

mrssalvo, it's not quite the same as vendors who at least put a pic of the product and perhaps a price range. this was a random display, not listed under Legacy, which I stumbled across by accident. there are two colors (not sure the stone type) that I didn't even see when I was in NYC. it's hard to order something over the phone if you don't know it exists. this was a lucky find.

i guess i''m just confused then. i thought you found the picture on tiffany''s website but then could not click on it to add it to your shopping cart and check out. not everyone stocks everything they make either so I can easily see why it wouldn''t have been in the store in NY. The legacy is only a couple of years old and i''m not sure they even sold it with colored stones when it first came out so that could some of the reason for the delay getting things to stores and online. at least you found it now so you can order now if you still want to.

I did find the picture on Tiffany''s website, but by complete accident. It''s not located under Legacy and a search of the term "legacy" will not show the pic. If you click on jewelry (and not the drop down menu with other options, which is usually what I work from) but simply on the word Jewelry, it will show the picture I posted. I was never planning to put it in my shopping cart as I''d like to figure out what carat size looks best on my hand (although home shopping is nice once you know exactly what you want). However, I was hoping to get more information about each stone (there are three different blue ones, what type of stone are they?) and it would be nice to get a starting price. Not to mention I know there is a pink sapphire and an amethyst which aren''t pictured. Makes me wonder how many gems you are allowed to get, at least that information would be nice considering they aren''t all in the store nor online. But maybe they just want people to constantly ring them up or travel the necessary miles to the nearest store. Whatever the case, I find it inconvenient and annoying.

moonwater,
I agree that their site isn''t exactly user friendly for the reasons you describe. it used to take me forever to find pics the 3 stone round with pear sides b/c it wasn''t under 3 stone rings. But i also think part of what Tiffany wants the experience to be is what you feel when you actually go into the store, so they really aren''t advertising or trying to get a ton of internet sales like we are so used to the vendors here doing. As for the colored legacy, at my local tiffany''s they''ve got a few colored stones, I didn''t pay close attention to which but the SA would easily be able to tell you all the colored stones you can get and the pricing and my guess is they really do want you to come or call. I personally much prefer emailing and getting knowlegde off websites or the net so i do understand your frustration.

Yeah, the site isn''t meant for folks like us. I definitely prefer email and websites. I simply prefer things in writing so I can go back and re-read instead of trying to remember everything that was said. Not to mention I think I''m allergic to sales people so I never care to go into stores to be hounded or spoken to with a condescending tone. I just like information! I like lots of information prior to buying and I like to do it BEFORE getting to the store. Bleh oh well.

This sounds like a symptom of computer addiction...

I believe ist rather nice to talk to people sometimes..., not to mention the experience of feeling the product while IN the store..., but that is just me

Nope, was like that prior to the internet boom. Also don''t like dealing with phones. My mother is the same way. I never care for pushy sales people and I really don''t care for the attitudes of some sales associates at places that sell luxury items. I prefer to walk in, pick up what I want, and leave. I don''t enjoy shopping, I enjoy the final product.

Moonwater - I can feel your pain! I found some beautiful chunky colored stone rings the same way that you did on the Tiffany site - I think that they may have even shown them on the home page. Then I spent about an hour searching, searching, searching the entire site to try and find them. I finally gave up! Thats the frustrating part - to waste an entire hour looking for something that doesn''t exist!

I tried some of the Legacy in Color in the Las Vegas store (Caesars Forum). They were gorgeous! Gave good finger coverage too.

The website does seem different from what it was only a few months back. Fewer items shown, especially in Fine Jewelry.

Exactly! I spent an hour looking as well. They just need a disclaimer next to the picture (these items in stores only).
