why does same stone look better in Mark T''s office than other jeweler?

They must have better lighting because I have seen same stone at ERD and I swear it had better light performance than when at another diamond jeweler''s office.

can some lighting be deceiving? I hear its best to look at sunlight but when you are in an office it is sometimes hard to get that kind of light.

Diamonds can only return light ( sparkle) according to the light they are in, so yes, lighting can make a difference to how a diamond looks. That is why we recommend checking a diamond out away from the jewellery store lights, to make sure it appeals to you in the lighting conditions it will be worn.

Yes, lighting has a HUGE impact on the performance of a diamond. Sunlight is pure white light that contains all of the colors of the spectrum. Unless I''m mistaken, which I may be, incandescent light does not and neither do fluorescent lights. I don''t know what kind of lighting jewelery stores have, but it is simulated sunlight, which can make any diamond look good. The true performers will look great even in low light or standard office lighting.

Hmm...it does say a lot though, because I honestly thought Mark''s office had TERRIBLE lighting! My stone sparkles a million times more in every lighting environment.

I''m really referring to the little LED or spot light at his office. In those lights it seems like a river rock would glisten as many of the stones I saw looked great.

But this other jeweler I think just has lousy office lights. He does have that white fluorescent looking thing on his desk which is what I have been using but its hard to get a sense of fire outside of spot light. for me at least

Quite frankly, I''m amazed that T&C can even sell expensive rings IN their stores because although the in case lighting is nice, once you take a ring out of their cases, the lighting usually sucks. It''s so weird. I have this rule now, if a shop has crap lighting, I think they''re trying to hide something and I dont shop there.

I would think the opposite almost...if a shop has nothing but spotlights they may be tryng to hide flaws that appear under grading-type lights. the spot lighting in cases usually make my bare feet sparkle

Yeah, I think that the shops with the crummy diamonds (mall chain stores) have excellent and even specialized lighting to make the stones sparkle. Once you take something out of Zales, Kays, Helzberg, etc., the little black carbon spots and poor cut becomes immediately apparent.

I thought the same thing about Mark''s lighting!!! My stone was at our house for a few days before it got sent out and I couldn''t stop commenting on how much better the lighting is
in our own apartment!

THritto!!! Mine can stop shooting off light, but it wasn''t like that in his office, but it was still great enough for me to buy it! LOL
