Just want to vent. I was going to my parked car yesterday near a dumpster - saw an orange tabby cat near the dumpster and approached it as it looked a bit scared. When I spoke to the cat, I realized that he wanted to hear my voice as he squinted his little eyes as a cat does when he's being spoken to. I realized that this cat was very hungry but responsive. I went to the Safeway and purchased a small can of cat food and the cat eagerly ate. I phoned my local cat rescue lady whom I have worked with in the past. She proceeded to rescue the cat and told me that the cat entered the crate without hesitation and cuddled on the blanket. As of this morning we have found that the cat is microchipped however the owner has not responded
. She gave the cat flea treatment as he was infested with fleas. Now that he's feeling better he is eating and drinking. We now have him at the vet for an exam and with the help of my funding and her knowledge and ability to foster and find a home for the kitty we hope to have a happy ending. I don't understand why people think that animals don't have feelings and that they can discard them like trash. It's obvious that this cat was an indoor cat at one time and doesn't know how to fend for himself and has probably been chased away by the local feral colony and had no place to go. The good news is that we were able to get him inside before the nasty rains arrived last night.
Thank you for listening - I'm sad but glad at the same time, I was meant to run across this poor animal.
